Day 1: Trip Starts In Vancouver
Location: Vancouver
Accommodation: Hotel
Accommodation Name: Century Plaza (or similar)
Meals Included: No Meals

Arrive into Vancouver today. Known as the Jewel of North America and easily one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Canada, Vancouver's setting on the beaches of the Pacific Ocean surrounded by Mount Seymour, Cypress and Grouse Mountain will remind you that nature looms just round the corner.

Due to the number of evening flights into Vancouver, your Tour Leader plans to do the welcome meeting on the morning on Day 2, and will leave a message in reception with details on timings and everything else that you'll need for the day. There are no activities planned today, so you are free to arrive into Vancouver at any time. If you would like to receive a complimentary airport transfer today, you'll need to arrive into Vancouver International Airport (airport code: YVC), which is a 40 minute drive from the hotel.

If your flight arrives earlier in the day, our hotel is centrally located in the downtown area. It's a perfect base to explore some of the city's highlights - the enormous rainforest in Stanley Park or the Granville Island public market and surrounding waterfront are both highly recommended.

Day 2: Explore The City Of Vancouver. Catch The Ferry To Vancouver Island
Location: Vancouver
Accommodation: Camp
Accommodation Name: Cedar Springs Campsite (or similar)
Meals Included: Lunch, Dinner

This morning, we explore Vancouver including visiting Granville Island and its public market which is famous for its seafood and fruit, Chinatown, the Gastown area of the city and Stanley Park. We enjoy a picnic in one of Vancouver's parks that overlook the Bay and catch the afternoon ferry to Victoria on Vancouver Island where we camp on the outskirts of the city. Although the island stretches almost 500km from north to south, it only has a population of 500,000 and with its numerous provincial parks, it is easy to escape into the wilderness.

Day 3: Whale Watching Trip. Discover British Columbia's Provincial Capital, Victoria And Its Totem Poles
Location: Victoria
Accommodation: Camp
Accommodation Name: Cedar Springs Campsite (or similar)
Meals Included: Breakfast

Vancouver Island is one of the best places in the world to spot marine wildlife, being situated on the main migration route of several species of whale including Orca, Humpback, Grey Whales and Minke. We board a catamaran for a whale watching excursion around the surrounding islands. It may also be possible to spot Osprey, Bald Eagle and other marine birds on our whale watching tour.

Upon returning to shore we explore Victoria, the capital of British Columbia province, including sites such as the Inner Harbour, Bastion Square and the impressive Empress Hotel on the harbour front. We finish our guided tour at Thunderbird Park, home to numerous Totem Poles that were carved by First Nation citizens, the original inhabitants of modern day Canada.

The rest of the day is left for optional visits including the Royal British Columbia Museum or Butcharts Gardens which is world renowned for its beauty.

From here, we enjoy a walk along Fraser Canyon to Overlander Falls (1km round trip, 45 minutes' walk) and then drive in the afternoon on to Jasper, our final destination for today and the largest of Canada's Rocky Mountain Parks. Peru Encompassed - spectacular trip

02-Jan-2023

I booked for my husband and I to go on the Peru Encompassed trip with the 3 day Amazon extension trip tagged on the end, we also booked to go to Lima few days early to get over the jetlag and see something of Lima before setting off on the group trip. Everything was booked for us by Explore! with seamless ease and without any hitches. This was the first time I had booked onto an organised trip so I was a bit concerned it might not be for us. How wrong I was. We were a group of 9, ranging from 30s to 60s, and a mixture of couples and singles and different nationalities. As a group we gelled really well and chose to spend most of our free time together which made the trip great fun. As for the trip itself, it surpassed all expectations. The Peru Encompassed trip was superb. I don't think any other country offers so much culture, wildlife, specular scenery and amazing food, all of which we experienced in abundance on the trip. We had a local tour guide for the whole trip who was fantastic and then expert guides joined us on different legs of the journey. We learned so much as a result. The highlights for me were visiting the local market in Arequipa with our guide and sampling lots of different fruit and street foods, the day on Lake Titicaca and of course Machu Picchu itself. We booked an additional trip to go back ourselves the second morning which was great as we could do a different route around the ruins and get different views from the afternoon before. Our final highlight was the additional 3 day trip to the Amazon staying at the Hacienda Conception. The lodges were immersed in the jungle which was wonderful if noisy! the food was fab and the daily trips provided were excellent. It was a great relaxing way to end the trip although it did rain quite a bit. Both my husband and I said our trip to Peru was one of the best trips we have ever done.
