Itinerary:
Visit Poas Volcano National Park and try to catch a glimpse through the clouds of the volcano’s elusive main crater. This impressive and active stratovolcano has erupted 40 times since 1828 and boasts incredible views no matter what direction you're looking. After some walking stop to enjoy a delicious lunch at the Doka Estate where you will learn about the golden bean–a term used to describe the unique savoury coffee of Costa Rica. Drive through flower, fern and strawberry farms on the way to the town of Grecia. The town is home to one of Central America's only metal churches that acts as the towns social core and one of its most interesting structures since not only is it made completely of metal, but it's also red! Tour around the church for a while and then dive into the local lifestyle and hit up the central market area. The last stop along the way brings you to the town or Sarchi, known all over Costa Rica for its beautiful and intricate artistic work. Sarchi is most famously recognized for its colourfully decorated and hand constructed oxcarts that have been made here for centuries.

Meeting Point:
At around 6 am your local guide will pick you up from your San Jose hotel lobby. This is a shared tour so it's possible that you'll have to stop at other hotels in order to pick up some other travelers before starting the way to Poas Volcano region around 6:40 am. The guide will then give a short briefing before start the adventure.

Do you operate a “single share” option and how does it work?
Most of our trips do not have a single supplement. This means that the accommodation is on a twin share basis and, if travelling on your own, you will be sharing a room with another G Adventures traveller of the same sex. Some tours have an optional single supplement. An optional service that may be available is called "My Own Room". This service allows solo travellers to request their own room.

Can I join the tour once it has departed?
It's extremely difficult if not impossible to join a tour after it has begun. It is possible to leave a tour early however you will be responsible for your own arrangements from the moment you decide to leave the tour. You would also be responsible for all costs associated with joining a tour late or leaving one early. If you feel this may be necessary, please consult us before you book.
