Day 9 : Rapid Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu Airport

Upon arrival at Kathmandu Airport, you'll be greeted by the bustling atmosphere of Nepal's capital city. The airport is relatively small, so navigating through customs and immigration shouldn't take too long. Once you've cleared these procedures, you'll step out into the vibrant chaos of Kathmandu. You might see a throng of taxi drivers offering their services or local vendors selling their wares. Depending on your preferences and schedule, you could head straight to your accommodation or take some time to explore nearby attractions like the historic Durbar Square or the bustling Thamel district.

Day 02: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara, then drive to Jhinu Danda and trek to Chhomrong (2040m) (B/L/D) 5-6 hours

Early in the morning, you'll head to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu Airport for your flight to Pokhara. The flight offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas, including peaks like Langtang, Manaslu, and, weather permitting, even glimpses of Mount Everest. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you'll meet your guide and driver for the journey to Jhinu Danda. The drive takes you through picturesque landscapes, passing terraced fields, quaint villages, and lush forests. Jhinu Danda is a small settlement perched on a hillside, offering stunning views of the surrounding valleys and rivers. After a brief rest, you'll begin your trek to Chhomrong. The trail winds through rhododendron forests and terraced fields, with occasional encounters with local villagers and their livestock. Chhomrong is a charming Gurung village nestled in the foothills of the Annapurna range, where you'll spend the night in a teahouse or guesthouse.

Day 03: Trek from Chhomrong to Himalaya (2920m) (B/L/D) 6-7 hours

Today's trek takes you deeper into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary. After a hearty breakfast in Chhomrong, you'll set off on the trail towards Himalaya. The route follows the Modi Khola (river) upstream, passing through lush forests of oak, bamboo, and rhododendron. You'll traverse several suspension bridges and stone staircases, gaining elevation gradually. Along the way, you'll be treated to stunning views of waterfalls cascading down the cliffs and the snow-capped peaks in the distance. Himalaya is a serene stopover point situated at an altitude of 2920m, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Upon reaching Himalaya, you'll settle into your accommodation for the night and enjoy a well-deserved rest.

Day 04: Trek from Himalaya to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) (4170m) (B/L/D) 7-8 hours

Today marks the climax of your trek as you make your way to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). After an early breakfast, you'll hit the trail, ascending steadily towards higher elevations. The landscape gradually transitions from lush forests to alpine meadows and eventually rocky terrain as you approach ABC. Along the way, you'll pass through Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC), a popular resting point with stunning views of the iconic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) peak. As you continue your ascent, the air becomes thinner, and the temperature drops, but the anticipation of reaching ABC keeps you motivated. Finally, after several hours of trekking, you'll arrive at Annapurna Base Camp, surrounded by towering peaks like Annapurna I, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. The sense of accomplishment and the breathtaking views make it all worthwhile. You'll spend the night at ABC, soaking in the beauty of the Himalayan amphitheater under the starry sky.

Day 05: Trek from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2310m) (B/L/D) 6-7 hours

After witnessing the sunrise over the Annapurna range from ABC, you'll begin your descent back down the valley. The journey retraces your steps along the same trail, offering different perspectives of the landscape. Descending can be physically demanding on the knees and joints, so it's essential to take your time and pace yourself accordingly. Along the way, you'll have plenty of opportunities to capture memorable photographs and reflect on your adventure. Bamboo, situated at an altitude of 2310m, is your destination for the day. The village gets its name from the dense bamboo forests that surround it, providing a serene atmosphere for rest and relaxation. You'll spend the night in Bamboo, reminiscing about the highlights of your trek and enjoying the camaraderie of your fellow trekkers.

Day 06: Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (Hot Spring) (B/L/D) 5-6 hours

Today's trek takes you back to Jhinu Danda, where you'll have the chance to indulge in a well-deserved soak in the natural hot springs. The trail winds its way through lush forests and terraced fields, offering occasional glimpses of the Modi Khola below. As you approach Jhinu Danda, the sound of rushing water grows louder, indicating your proximity to the hot springs. The natural thermal pools are nestled along the banks of the river, providing a perfect opportunity to soothe your muscles and relax amidst the tranquil surroundings. After a refreshing dip in the hot springs, you'll settle into your accommodation in Jhinu Danda for the night, enjoying a sense of rejuvenation after days of trekking.

Day 07: Trek from Jhinu Danda to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara (B/L) 5-6 hours

Today marks the final leg of your trekking adventure as you make your way back to civilization. After breakfast in Jhinu Danda, you'll set off on the trail towards Nayapul, retracing your steps along the same route you took on the first day of your trek. The descent is relatively gentle, allowing you to enjoy the scenery one last time before bidding farewell to the mountains. Upon reaching Nayapul, you'll meet your transport for the drive back to Pokhara. The journey offers stunning views of the countryside, with opportunities to stop at local villages and viewpoints along the way. Once you arrive in Pokhara, you'll check into your hotel and have the rest of the day free to relax and explore the city at your leisure.

Day 08: Sightseeing in Pokhara and Fly to Kathmandu (B/D) 30 min

Today is dedicated to exploring the enchanting city of Pokhara, known for its natural beauty and laid-back atmosphere. After breakfast, you'll set out on a sightseeing tour of Pokhara's top attractions, including Phewa Lake, where you can enjoy a boat ride with views of the surrounding mountains reflected in the tranquil waters. You'll also visit Davis Falls, a mesmerizing waterfall that plunges into an underground gorge, and the World Peace Pagoda, a serene Buddhist stupa offering panoramic views of Pokhara Valley and the Annapurna range. In the afternoon, you'll head to Pokhara Airport for your flight back to Kathmandu. The flight provides one last opportunity to admire the majestic Himalayas from the air before returning to the bustling capital city.

Day 09: Departure to Kathmandu Airport (B)

Today marks the end of your adventure in Nepal as you bid farewell to this enchanting country. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time to explore Kathmandu or do some last-minute souvenir shopping before heading to Kathmandu Airport for your departure flight. This review is long overdue...

09-Dec-2022

This review is long overdue and I apologize. I cannot begin to express what an amazing itinerary Mr. Bhagwat Simkhada put together for me. I travelled solo from the US and had the most amazing adventure of a lifetime. His employees and tour guides (Hi Prakash :)), looked after me as if I was family. Mr. Bhagwat Simkhada even dealt with a last minute issue (mine, not theirs), that resulted in a significant change to my itinerary while I was there, and he somehow found a way to replace my original selections with equally enjoyable excursions. My experience with Himalayan Adventure Trek was that it was superior service for everything. From the beginning in the planning stages, all the way through my final departure, Bhagwat was available and quickly responsive to phone calls and emails. Nepal was truly an incredible country to visit, adventure, culture, history and amazing people. Traveling on my own, I admit to having been a bit concerned about safety before I got there, but i was made to feel extremely comfortable first by everyone representing Himalayan Adventure and then by the staff at the hotels that were arranged, and most of all, the Nepali people themselves. I cannot wait to reach out to Bhagwat to start to plan my return visit.

The greatest trip I could...

28-Oct-2022

The greatest trip I could have imagined all thanks to Mr. Simkhada and Prakash (our lead guide) We originally reached out to Mr. Simkhada to plan our trip to Everest Base Camp and boy was it planned to the last detail - every single aspect of it was planned out from the moment we got off the plane in Kathmandu to the moment we took off to return home. Unfortunately, the one detail that can't be planned around is weather and weather derailed that trip completely - instead of flying a helicopter to Lukla, we had to pivot to a different plan. Let me set the stage because pivoting to a different plan doesn't sound like a big deal, but it was MASSIVE. People were stuck trying to go to Lukla and getting out of Lukla for about 5 days - that means that 100s of 1000s of people were looking to change their plans. Additionally, Annapurna Circuit Trek had a lot of natural disasters (landslides and avalanches) and so the only option for all these people was Annapurna Base Camp. Within 2 hours of us telling Mr. Simkhada and Prakash that we would switch our plan from EBC to ABC they had EVERYTHING planned out and not just for a group of 4 or 5 people, no 18 PEOPLE! We had tickets to Pokhara from Kathmandu, buses were ready to pick us up, porters were put in place and local assistant guides were identified and hired. All the tea houses, lunches, dinners, everything was planned. To be honest, we didn't realize the enormity of their planning excellence until we were literally on the trek running into groups that had to also re-plan their treks to not only find out that 6 to 7 people were sharing rooms, being turned away from teahouses due to full capacity, or having to set up tents to sleep outside. Outside of planning we also loved the team they put together for us. Prakash is excellent - professional but fun and extremely detail oriented. By day one, he had integrated himself into our group so well that he was endearingly calling my mom, "mom." The assistant guides Urkin, Manoj, and Sitaram were also fantastic - very loving, and made sure we had the absolute best time. Finally, the porters, the 9 porters, we never saw anything but a smile on their faces. Really hats off to this company. We could have had a disaster trip and no one would have been at fault because you can't control the weather, but despite difficult conditions - they put together a trip of a lifetime.

06-Oct-2024

We booked an 11 day trip to Nepal through Himalaya Adventures. I cannot express my thankfulness to the company for putting together an incredible trip for five of us. Each step of our trip was organised and timed to perfection. Our guide, Suresh and our incredible driver Ramesh took care of all of our needs for the entire duration of our trip. We visited so many beautiful places, ate at incredible restaurants and were amazed at the natural beauty of the land. Ramesh is an incredible driver. He navigated the crazy Kathmandu traffic like a pro and kept our safety in mine. It was easy to communicate our needs to the company and they responded immediately. I highly recommend booking your trip to Nepal through Himalayan Adventures. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hello Bhagwat. Jim and I...

19-Feb-2025

Hello Bhagwat. Jim and I would like to thank you very much for an excellent trek to the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). The beautiful scenery speaks for itself, so I will speak for our guide, Badri Kakri and our tough porter, Perlad. These fine gentlemen provided excellent service which really allowed us to have the best experience possible. They were always cheerful, patient and considerate - especially when we needed frequent pauses to catch our breath and regain control over our frantically beating hearts. We think the loop through Ghorepani was instrumental in rebuilding leg muscles and improving cardio before our final trek to ABC. Badri was an excellent source of information about the area, it's geography, it's fauna and flora, and about Nepal and world subjects as well. We also really appreciated the ease of communication with you as we organized this trip. Your friendly good cheer gave us confidence in the arrangements, and the supper last night with traditional dancers was a wonderful cap to our trekking experience. Thank you, Himalayan Adventure Treks & Tours! Keith M and Jim S, Ottawa, CANADA, February 2025.

This was my second trek...

24-Dec-2024

This was my second trek with Prakash & Himalayan adventure. First was Poonhill and this time Annapurna Base Camp, with 5 day itinerary, with only myself and Prakash. We started from Pokhara with a Jeep ride to Ghandruk. Prakash is very experienced (10+ years), very knowledgeable, professional and respectful. He was prepared and able to quickly find an alternative route around a landslide area, without significantly effecting the overall itinerary. Prakash made sure to check in with how I packed, what I brought and what I might need in order to be most prepared. He knows the maps and ways around this region extremely well. Accurate time and distance estimates and even converts units from/to metric as needed. Prakash knows the local agriculture, culture and language (in total he speaks English, Nepali, English and mandarin). He is even continuing to take professional courses to improve his knowledge and skill set in regards to trekking and medical information. Prakash was transparent about all the costs, preparation and adjustments to schedule as needed. I was able to make last minute changes to get a plane back to Kathmandu instead of bus. He is very friendly and reads the room well, he notices if you are not feeling well, having a hard time with the pace and asks if you are not feeling well. These qualities are extremely important, I am a doctor of physiotherapy and know how important it is to have a good understanding of people and their physical / mental function because if they need medical attention, you want someone to know as soon as possible. Prakash is the type of person you want guiding you. He has been all over this country and even does motor bike tours as well. Talk to him about any alternative itineraries you would want to consider. I would consider him a friend.

02-Nov-2024

Suman, your guide, accompanied me on the expedition. We had a terrific time, thank you, but Suman ought to make his clients laugh with happy faces. He appeared to be coping with problems in his life that made it hard to please everyone. Don't be too serious; he should be a more gregarious guide. In conclusion, please move past your problems so that your clients can travel comfortably and enjoy the experience. After I asked him to stop by the closest store to pick up something, I became a little irritated, but he kept giving me excuses. I appreciate Himalayan Adventure for the trip, but I will definitely hire a different guide the next time.

11-May-2024

BEWARE! DO NOT BOOK A ROAD TRIP WITH THIS COMPANY. Very disappointed in our “luxury” 11 day tour with H.A Treks and T in March. Despite having full knowledge of the extensive road demolition throughout Nepal, Bhagwat sent us out on a very uncomfortable and unsafe journey in a car that was completely unsuitable for the road conditions. To top it off, our driver/guide spoke no English. We chose to end the trip early and fly back to Kathmandu at our own expense. When we complained and outlined all of our concerns to Bhagwat, he reluctantly offered a refund of $100 on a $4000 ruined “luxury” trip.
