Our group of 8 seniors...

28-Sep-2023

Our group of 8 seniors were very happy with Simon, Montez, Hector and the team. The bikes were excellent and when we needed to upgrade to an electric in mid trip, it was arranged flawlessly. They also helped with taxis to the next destination when our group was hit with illness. The accommodations were excellent and the hosts very personable and helpful. The food was great. The scenery superb. Couldn’t recommend them more highly.

If you think France is great for cycling, try Spain!!

28-May-2023

We are just back from Iberocycle's Picos de Europa tour, and would highly recommend it. From start to finish, dealing with Iberocycle was a joy. Communication was excellent throughout; we changed the published itinerary slightly to substitute the climb of Lagos de Covadonga for the loop ride from Cangas de Onis; they met us at Santander port exactly as planned; gave us a thorough route and information package and then left us to our own devices to get on with our trip. The Hotel Don Paco in Cangas was a great start: a lovely old convent, with a superb restaurant (Menu Fabada first class) and a huge breakfast. (Only downside: no wardrobes or cupboards in the room!) Cangas de Onis is a great choice for a night or two. Loads of good restaurants and local produce shops; comfy enough hotel and a busy bike shop in town. Posada de Valdeon accommodation perfectly comfy, but eating out and food buying options were limited to a choice of one at the time we went. Having said that, dinner was good and we didn't need the 'emergency tinned sardines' from the panaderia. At the time, we thought that the perfect end to a perfect day on the bike would have been a cold beer in Potes and a walk across the road to a nice hotel, whereas we had to ride another 13 kms to Hotel del Oso in Cosgaya, which seemed a bit of a drag at the end of an exhilarating day. But, you can see why Iberocycle choose it. It's a beautiful hotel, in lovely grounds, with great staff and an outstanding restaurant. It's the sort of place that visitors return to year after year. Finally, the Camino Real in Selores is a real treat. Quirky in the extreme but superb; and the restaurant and food is just excellent. So, that's the food and accommodation, now the riding. Please don't go without training. In five days we only covered 180 miles but we climbed almost 20,000 feet. From Llanes to Cangas is comfortable; Lagos de Covadonga involves a 990 metre climb in just 11kms - very tough; Cangas to Posada involves a 49 km climb; Posada to Cosgaya begins with a brutal climb, followed by a wild and bumpy descent, then a climb to Puerto San Glorio and the most fabulous 25 km descent into Potes. Cosgaya to Selores starts with 30 kms downhill through the most stunning gorge then three more decent climbs until your final hotel. Our bags were in the hotel rooms when we arrived each day and we were collected and taken back to the port in good time for the ferry. A really good trip; well organised and thought through by nice people. But don't go without training - this is not cycling for softies, but perfectly doable for two of us either side of 70 with decent low gearing.

I want to thank all...

10-Jul-2022

I want to thank all of the staff for a wonderful trip. I have cycled with dozens of companies over the past 25 years and Iberocycle does it right! Although self-guided, you feel taken care of all of the time. The routes were fantastic as was the scenery. Many of the routes in Cantabria are quite hilly or mountainous. If you are not used to climbing more than 3,000 feet a day, consider an E-bike, they rent excellent E-bikes and it makes the days a pleasure. You will not regret a trip here!

We had to cancel our Green Valleys Trip, but will definitely rebook with Iberocycle!

21-May-2020

After spending many weeks working with Simon and his excellent team at Iberocycle, we had their "Green Valleys" trip planned. We had booked our airline tickets and paid a deposit to Iberocycle before the COVID-19 was on anyone's radar. We travel to Europe every summer for a cycling trip, and normally I plan my own routes. The reviews of Iberocycle persuaded me to let someone else do the routing/lodging logistical work this summer. Simon was incredibly helpful booking us an extra day to give me time to put together my travel bike; his staff was in touch with me to get the proper fit for the e-bike for my partner. I can't say enough good things about this company. When our flight to Bilbao was cancelled we knew we would have to cancel the entire trip. Having worked as a bike guide, I know a high level of attention to detail is critical to a successful trip, and Simon showed the kind of expertise that I value in a bike travel company. Iberocycle immediately refunded our deposit when it became clear that that the trip had to be postponed indefinitely. I am most grateful for that consideration as I'm certain they are now suffering financial hardship with the collapse of the tourist industry in Spain. We will definitely rebook with Iberocycle and Simon's team when the COVID threat is over.

We have done 3 tours...

26-Oct-2022

We have done 3 tours with IberoCycle (a self guided trip in Northern Spain, a supported trip in Andalusia, and a customized group tour in the Picos de Europa for a group of our friends) and all have been excellent! Simon’s team does an excellent job - very good routes, bikes and charming hotels. We have done many bike tours in Europe and IberoCycle is one of our favorite companies to work with!

Our group has done several...

29-Sep-2023

Our group has done several self-guided cycling trips in Europe and North America plus some guided ones in Asia and Iberocycle is at the top of the list. The route along the Ebro River in northern Spain was exceptional, maybe a little more difficult than we anticipated, but filled with beautiful vistas, great ambiance, and excellent wine. The accommodations were also full of character, clean, comfortable and served excellent meals, all with local wine. The bikes (road bikes this time, not hybrids, although 2 people were on electrics) were the best we've ever had and the response from the team at Iberocycle was excellent. Not knowing much about this area we were amazed at the daily photo opportunities. BTW, did I mention the wine and wineries? I would definitely highly recommend Ibero cycle and this route.

An amazing cycle tour through the Rioja

19-Jul-2023

Fantastic service and extensive knowledge especially Ignacio. This is our 3rd cycle holiday in Europe but the first to Spain and definitely the best cycle company. Transfers on time, excellent quality of bikes, attentive but not intrusive team offering daily recommendations on WhatsApp. 6 days across la rioja region and a fascinating route with a range of accommodation which was all excellent (Very clean and friendly). Would love to return again . Bike maps and local information about area very detailed

Enjoying the Cantabrian coast of Spain.

31-May-2023

We are two 80 year olds doing an extended bicycle tour organized through IberoCycle in Santander. The options offered took into consideration our age and capabilities with short and long choices. By the end of our 6 days of cycling through the rugged mountains of Northern Spain we were selecting the more challenging options through spectacular scenery on very quiet bike roads

Best bicycle outfitter in Spain

25-Sep-2021

My partner and I just finished a tour with IberoCycle in Picos de Europa over a 15 day period. IberoCycle provided routes, organized logistics around hotels, luggage transfer, cycling routes and general support (as well as rental bikes/Ebikes) for the trip. We cannot say enough about how excellent the overall experience was for us, and the terrific support we received from Simon (the owner of IberoCycle). Truly an outstanding experience and we cannot rate this company highly enough. Incredible trip from beginning to end as well as a terrific value. Thank you!
