Itinerary
Day 1: Negombo Arrival
Welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon arrival at the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Negombo. Begin your journey with a tour of the coastal city (depending on your flights arrival time). Negombo is recognized as the cinnamon hub from the ages of Dutch, Portuguese, and British Colonization. Their cinnamon is famous for being the best and most abundant in the world! As you discover the beautiful beaches and incredible lagoon watch how Negombo dishes out some of the best lobsters, prawns, and crabs found in the country. Grab your kiteboards for an enchanting fly over the crashing waves. Enjoy the active nightlife and Western rhythms that Negombo has to offer, from its local bars, disco bars, and vibrant clubs.
Overnight in Negombo
Day 2: Negombo – Dambulla (B/-/-)
After a delicious breakfast, you will be transferred north to Dambulla. Situated in the Central Province of Sri Lanka, Dambulla is a large town in the Matale District. Explore this ancient city with its deep roots in history and discover its best legendary 2000-year-old landmark “Dambulla Cave Temple”, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This fascinating site is known to be the best-preserved and largest cave temple complex in the country. The areas surrounding the cave complex are full of religious statues and murals and boasts the most extensive rose quartz mountain ranges in South Asia. We recommend embarking on an optional tour of the Dambulla Cave Temple. We also suggest heading on the optional tour of the 25-acre Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. Here you may spread the love to elephants of all walks of life and observe their daily routine!
Overnight in Dambulla
Day 3: Dambulla (B/-/-)
Begin your morning with breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy the day at leisure to explore Dambulla or discover one of our optional tours.
Overnight in Dambulla
Day 4: Dambulla – Matale – Kandy (B/-/-)
After breakfast, we will travel to Kandy via Matale, an agricultural zone in the central province. Matale is home to various crops including tea, rubber, vegetables, and spices of many kinds. Enjoy a break by the side of the spice garden to discover the therapeutic values and benefits of their unique spices and processes over a cup of herbal tea! Upon arriving in Kandy, you may enjoy a stroll across the small lakeside town as you discover the City Centre cradled among the misty hills. Discover world-class brands, a fascinating bazaar, an arts and crafts center, and a gem museum and lapidary. Walk-in color as you discover the fresh fruits and vegetables of the Kandy Market. Fine-tune your evening by moving to the beat of the traditional music and drumming amplified by a cultural show, enhancing the rich and vibrant culture of Sri Lanka (not included in the tour: available at an additional cost). You will get the opportunity to experience an ancient Kandyan legacy at the Temple of Sacred Tooth, a relic of Lord Buddha (not included in the tour, available at an additional cost), before returning to the hotel.
Overnight in Kandy
Day 5: Kanndy – Wadduwa (B/-/-)
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Wadduw, a scenic coastal village with picturesque scenery. Prepare to be mesmerized by this quiet fishing town on the Southwest Sri Lankan Coast. Take a stroll in paradise along the glowing golden beaches, crystal-clear ocean waters, and never-ending palm trees. Feel free to jump in the water, partake in beach sports such as windsurfing or volleyball, or meet with local fishermen to learn about their catch of the day! At your leisure, you may also embark on picturesque train rides or visit the bustling capital city of Colombo that is only 30 km (18miles) away.
Overnight in Wadduwa
Day 6: Wadduwa – Galle – Wadduwa (B/-/-)
After breakfast, you will travel south to the city of Galle. This is an extraordinary Southern capital and the best example of a walled city built by the Portuguese in the 16th century. Galle offers an abundance of classic Dutch architecture in a tropical setting, which creates a vibrant atmosphere and breathtaking scenery. As you enter the old city gates of this World Heritage Site, you will come across numerous grand colonial houses, boutique shops, and beautiful beaches on the outskirts. Take a stroll along the haunted Dutch streets as you listen to the creaks of wooden saloon doors and discover how European architecture mixes with South Asia. As you walk through the fort you will see the old gates, carrying the British Coat of Arms. Continuing your journey, you will discover the oldest lighthouse in the area, standing at 18 feet tall. This incredible monument is next to the magnificent Point Utrecht Bastion, where you will find panoramic views of the breathtaking South Indian Ocean.
Overnight in Wadduwa.
