As the island is one of the main breeding sites for marine iguanas, this is an excellent place to see these creatures from up close. After a hike through the islet, you can snorkel* in the waters nearby with the multicolored fish, sharks, sea lions, and maybe even manta rays.

*Note that masks and tubes will be provided. Wetsuits will be available for rent.

Overnight on Isabela Island

Day 4: GALAPAGOS ISLANDS (ISABELA – SANTA CRUZ) (B/L/D)

After breakfast, your guide will take you to visit the Flamingo Lagoon, the largest coastal lagoon in the Galapagos. This is an approx. 2km trail where you will get an explanation of the vegetation and geology of the young Isabela Island. Arriving in the Flamingo Lagoon, you might be able to see flamingos feeding in this lake. This is an artificial lake — due to the excavation for construction it was made up by the rain. From there, the trail will end in the tortoise breeding center. In this place, you will learn more about the reproduction and breeding of Tortoises. The Tortoise Center of Isabela was completed in 1994 and houses tortoises from the populations of southern Isabela, many of which have experienced relatively high levels of poaching within the last 10-20 years. Visitors can see hatchlings, tortoises, and the older breeding animals. In the afternoon you will return to Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz by boat.

In terms of area, Bogotá is Colombias largest city: it extends more than 40 km from north to south and 20km from east to west. It is not only the main economic and industrial center but also the political heart of the country. The National Legislature, the Supreme Court of Justice, and the residence of the President of the Republic (Casa de Nariño) reside here. With its 8 million inhabitants, the city is Colombias most populous, and the huge cultural offer is among the best and largest in the country. Day 15: BOGOTA – PEREIRA (BY FLIGHT) – COFFEE TRIANGLE (B/-/-)

This morning, at the arranged time, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Pereira. Upon arrival in Pereira, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in  the Coffee Triangle. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Colombia is famous for its coffee, but nowhere is the prized bean more important than in the departments of Caldas, Risaralda and Quindío, which together make up the heart of the Zona Cafetera, also called the Eje Cafetero (Coffee Axis). Here you'll find jeeps packed with mustachioed coffee pickers; poncho-wearing senior citizens gossiping in cafes; and, of course, endless cups of piping hot arabica. Many working fincas (coffee farms) have embraced tourism and welcome visitors onto their plantations to learn all about the coffee-growing process. It is particularly interesting to visit during the harvests (April to May, October to December) when the farms are a hive of activity. The “Coffee Cultural Landscape”, inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO in 2011.

Overnight in the Coffee Triangle

Day 16: COFFEE TRIANGLE (B/-/-)

Get ready for a full-day tour around the Cocora Valley and Salento. This mystical valley is considered one of Colombia's most stunning valleys and often listed among the country's must-sees. Certainly unique are the up to 60 metre-tall wax palms of the region, which are towering into the eerie cloud forest. We can explore the valley on foot before our trip to nearby Salento, one of the coffee region's most picturesque villages. Browsing its cafés and boutiques we find ourselves among merry colours, textures and artesanal crafts. Just outside of Salento and nestled into fertile hillsides we reach Finca El Ocaso, a traditonal coffee finca. Here we learn all about the coffee production process from seed to cup.

Note: Lunch (payable locally) is taken at a typical comedor in the Salento area.

Overnight in the Coffee Triangle

Day 17: COFFEE TRIANGLE – CARTAGENA (BY FLIGHT) (B/-/-)

At the arranged time you will be transferred to the Armenia Airport for your flight to Cartagena via Bogotá. Upon arrival in Cartagena, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. From there you will head on a city tour. This fascinating half-day tour will start with a visit to the most important monuments in Cartagena. Start at the Convent of La Popa* (the highest point in the city) and continue your tour to the Castillo de San Felipe, an immense fort filled with history and mysteries hidden in its stonewalled tunnels. Leaving the castle, visit the monument of Zapatos Viejos — the “Old Shoes”. Certainly, the most impressive monument is the gigantic defensive wall that surrounds the old city and overlooks the sea and its well-preserved colonial architecture. During the rest of the visit, you will see the citys churches, museums, plazas, restaurants, shops, and jewelry stores. This combination of treasures makes Cartagena deserving of the title of UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will never forget this wonderful destination!

Overnight in Cartagena

*Note: If La Popa is closed, this visit will be replaced by the San Pedro Claver Convent.

Day 18: CARTAGENA (B/-/-)

Today you will have a full day at leisure to explore the city at your own pace or unwind on the beach. Cartagena de Indias was founded in 1533 and is probably the most attractive city in South America today. The old part of the city is also called “the walled city”, where Cartagena conserves the beauty of its' colonial past. Narrow streets flanked by heavy oak doors, beautiful, flowered balconies, and friendly and welcoming people give Cartagena the perfect combination of colonial history and cultural experience. Beautiful beaches close by, such as the Rosario Islands, invite visitors with their crystal-clear waters and with a large variety of excursions and tours to choose from.

Overnight in Cartagena

Day 19: CARTAGENA (DEPARTURE) – USA/CANADA (B/-/-)

Today you will be transferred to the Cartagena airport for your departure flight.

Thanks to Indus and Nicko Cruise for a great trip down the Danube. I had not been on a river cruise prior to this and found it a very relaxing way to travel and see some European highlights. The ship was superb. The staff served great meals, were friendly and accommodating. As far as the tours and city visits, they all gave us a reasonable amount of time and insight into the location we were visiting to come away with a sense that we had a good glimpse of the city and were able to spend some free time in the city as well. A special thanks to Dhruv our fearless leader from Indus who was a great organizer. Lastly - nice to meet all of you in our group. terry

07-Dec-2023

Booked Mystical Egypt tour with them visiting Cairo and a 03 Nights Cruise from Luxor to Aswan in May. All services were perfect since the time we arrived at the airport, we were met by a hospitable Indus Representative who helped us with the purchase of local SIM and currency exchange. He was always there in time to assist for transfers. The Amwaj Cruise which we took from Luxor to Aswan was a Gem. We had great guides and all sightseeing worked like a clockwork. We enjoyed visiting Karnak Temples, Temples of Edfu, Kom Ombo and the boat ride to see Phillae Temple. Evening entertainment on cruise were great and engaging. In Cairo and Aswan, we had ample leisure time to explore on own, the Pyramids were impressive and visiting Khan e Khalili was fun. Overall and impressive and enjoyable tour, Thanks to Indus Travels!

06-Feb-2025

We recently enjoyed an amazing Indus tour of Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro and highly recommend visiting these beautiful countries with Indus. We found the scenery, architecture, culture and history all to be fascinating. Our tour guide was exceptional - so knowledgeable, kind and entertaining, and ensured the tour was a 5 star experience for all of the participants. It was a lovely group of people and we have even remained friends with a few. The hotel accommodations were excellent and the delicious breakfast buffets every morning made us eager to get our day started! I felt so safe at all times on our trip, including on all the drives with such an excellent bus driver. It was truly a wonderful adventure.

09-Jun-2023

Recently went on a Rhine River Cruise, a first for me. I must say the experience was exceptional, their tagline says. The group I was with were some of the most fun and interesting set of people I've ever traveled with. The ground transportation arrangements were top notch and comfortable. Variety in menu that we were provided with in the cruise was astounding. I was a bit worried if they'd have much options for me as I'm a vegetarian. But they not only had options, the taste was something I'd savor for foreseeable future. There's a reason Rhine cruises are popular owing to it's serene and picturesque route. Guided tours were very informative and gave us a bit of an insight of German culture. We had good amount of time to explore the towns on our own too. Strasbourg and Cochem were my favorite stops. Luckily the weather worked in our favour and it didn't rain the way it was predicted originally. No one from our group wanted the tour to end. If this trip was any indication, I can't wait to book my next trip with Indus Travels.

Indus Travel runs a highly professional organization. From customer service to brochures, bookings, tour guides, etc. and the consideration for their customers is superb. This was the first time I had travelled with Indus Travels. We took the Taste of Portugal Tour. Group numbers are small, accommodation comfortable and food excellent. The expert guide who accompanied us was outstanding - passionate, informative, engaging, and entertaining. This company is obviously at the heart of the itinerary planning, and attention to detail is second to none. I would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting a fun, relaxed, educational vacation with fine food - they will deliver! We will never forget this trip and we are already planning for another one to Wonders of Italy, Vienna, Budapest, and Prague.
