Tour Overview
On this relaxing break to the peaceful coast of North Wales we enjoy the genteel ambience of Llandudno, known as the ‘Queen of the Welsh Resorts’. We’ll find plenty to do in Wales’ largest seaside resort, including the spectacular Great Orme, while also exploring Snowdonia with its awe-inspiring landscapes scattered with picturesque towns and villages.
Itinerary
Coach Itinerary
Trefriw Woollen Mills, Betws-y-Coed, Llanberis & Caernarfon (full day)
We start the day with a visit to Trefriw Woollen Mills, one of the few remaining mills in Wales and an important traditional manufacturer of Welsh woollen products.
Next, we explore the spectacular scenery of Snowdonia, calling at the picturesque village of Betws-y-Coed, known as the Gateway to Snowdonia National Park. The backdrop of coniferous forests has earned this area the name ‘Little Switzerland’. We continue to the bustling village of Llanberis, another charming village set at the foot of the mighty Mount Snowdon.
We return to the hotel via Caernarfon, a charming town with a thriving harbour located on the eastern shore of the Menai Straits. The main landmark of the town is the imposing castle ordered by Edward I in the 13th century.
Optional Excursions
Chester – £11pp (full day)
For our first optional excursion, we head to historic Chester. From the remains of its Roman Amphitheatre to the distinctive Medieval Rows that line its streets, this compact city is a delight to explore. In addition to an abundance of historical attractions, the city also has an array of great shops, plus a host of cafés, restaurants and pubs to tempt you.
Bangor, Isle of Anglesey & Beaumaris – £11pp (full day)
On our second optional excursion, we head first to the north-western tip of Wales to visit Bangor, known for its cathedral, university and pier with views over the Menai Strait towards Anglesey. We then cross the Menai Bridge to the Isle of Anglesey and the beautiful coastal town of Beaumaris, renowned for its magnificent castle that, along with Conwy Castle, formed a ring of English defences around the Welsh coast.
