With its stunning scenery, glorious beaches and myriad attractions, the classic seaside resort of Scarborough has been welcoming visitors for nearly 400 years! This fantastic short break combines a traditional seaside getaway with visits to the historic city of York and the charming town of Beverley.
Included Excursions York (full day) Our first excursion takes us to York. The iconic York Minster is worth a visit, thanks to its world-famous stained glass windows and status as the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe. Other highlights include the narrow cobbled streets of the ‘Shambles’, where the buildings date back to medieval times, the National Railway Museum, the Jorvic Centre which tells the story of York’s Viking heritage, and the ancient walls which surround the city. No trip to York is complete without a visit to the famous Betty’s tea rooms too!
Beverley (half day) For our half-day excursion we head to the pretty market town of Beverley, one of Yorkshire’s best-kept secrets. The town’s rich heritage is reflected in its cobbled streets, charming courtyards and historic buildings, including the 13th-century Minster with its medieval stone carvings and stained glass. There are also quaint boutiques, cosmopolitan cafés and traditional pubs to enjoy.
Optional Excursion Whitby – £8pp (half day) Join our optional half-day excursionto the charming coastal town of Whitby, famed for its connection to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Wander around the quirky streets and the picturesque harbour before tackling the climb up to the atmospheric ruined abbey perched on the cliffs above the town.
