Tour Overview

Imagine being able to tell your mates that you travelled 1,000km around Sri Lanka. In a rickshaw. A rickshaw that you drove. That, friends, is the Lanka Challenge rickshaw adventure: the ultimate road trip for those who like their travel fully-charged and no-holds-barred. Each day you’ll wake up, be told where you need to be by sundown, and get handed a list of challenges to complete along the way – the completion of which will see your team accrue points. The rest is up to you, you big legend. Kandy, Colombo, Nuwaraeliya, the South coast – our Lanka Challenge Southern Route takes in all of southern Sri Lanka’s ‘Greatest Hits’, well, most of the time, there will be occasions we can’t fit them all in but you get the gist. It’s been scientifically proven that the Southern Route is both the secret to happiness and the meaning of life. So there you go.

Day 1 : Arrival & Training Day

You will meet the other teams during the welcome gathering and official Southern Sri Lanka Tuk Tuk Challenge kick-off dinner.

Day 2 : 120 Km To Thangappuwa Road

After breakfast, luggage handover (at the parking lot) and the route briefing (at the pool area) you are off on your own 120km

Day 3 : 120Km To Kandy

Another 120km on the road in your Tuk-Tuk and several challenges to complete on the way.

Cue the warm and fuzzy feels. When picking these foundation projects, we put a big emphasis on education. We don’t want to get all Presidential about this, but we really believe the kids are our future. We really think travel can make the world a better place, and to do that we’ve focused our meaningful travel efforts on three main areas: environment, learning resources and leisure activities. We organise these projects through local public schools (with a helping hand from a few hand-picked local charities and NGOs). The NGO or organisation provides all the logistical stuff, while the beneficiary school handles the ground level prep and the official handing over event. Each project is monitored for 48 months to make sure it’s doing what we want it to do, then the successful models are rolled out in other areas of the country.   • Can the route change?

    We try to stick to the original route and accommodation as much as possible, but they can be subject to change from time to time. There may also be times when we have to split the reservations across two or more hotels due to capacity issues but we will always let you know.

  • Will the accommodation included meet local health and safety regulations?

    Yes, our accommodation choices meet health & safety standards. We strongly believe that after a full day of dirty adventuring everyone should be treated to a little bit of luxury. We hand pick all of our accommodation and make sure it's just right for that little bit of down time after a hard day on the road. You won't be disappointed!

  • is there an age limit?

    Yes, you’ve got to be at least 18 years old in order to participate. We don’t have a maximum age, but if you’re over 65 we definitely recommend checking with your insurer to make sure you qualify for the medical insurance you’ll need to take part. The Challenge is physically tough, but by no means extreme – we won’t sugar-coat it. You should really only take part if you’re in decent physical shape and your health is A-Okay.
