Day 3 - Jakarta - Yogykarta
This morning enjoy a city tour of Jakarta visiting the National Monument, a 433ft tower in the centre of Jakarta. Commonly known as MONAS, the monument symbolizes the fight for Indonesia's independence. Your city tour also includes a trip to the Sunda Kelapa Harbour, a great spot for photo enthusiasts as many of the boats in the harbour are the old style two mast 'Penisi' boats. This afternoon you will fly to Yogyakarta, on arrival you will be met by a local guide and transferred to your hotel.
Day 4 - Yogyakarta
After breakfast explore the city's courtly splendour with a trip to the 18th century Sultan's Palace, built in elegant Javanese style and set within a vast walled city known locally as the Kraton. Explore the historical district of Kotagede, former capital of the Sultanate of Mataram and centre of the Dutch colonial silver trade, before trying your hand at silver working. Continue to the phenomenal Hindu temples of Prambanan built between the 8th and 10th centuries. These intricately carved temples scattered across the verdant Prambanan Plain are a truly breath-taking sight to behold. In the evening enjoy delicious local cuisine whilst watching a traditional Ramayana dance performance.
Day 5 - Yogyakarta
This morning travel to Borobudur. Surrounded on three sides by volcanoes and set amongst a patchwork of green rice paddies, Borobodur is the largest Buddhist monument in the southern hemisphere and the greatest piece of classical architecture in the Indonesian archipelago. This colossal stupa has survived over 1200 years and is undoubtedly a highlight of any trip to Indonesia. Admire the stunning views from the temple's summit, before heading to the rural Javanese village of Candirejo, steeped in local traditions and the rituals of daily life in central Java.
Day 6 - Yogyakarta - Bromo
Today, witness the beauty of the Javanese countryside in style on an executive train journey and scenic drive to Bromo. En route you will pay a visit to Pasuruan harbour, an important port town for centuries, to observe local fishermen leaving the shores in search of a catch, before witnessing the phinisi, a traditional Indonesian sailing ship.
Day 7 - Bromo to Ubud
Wake early for a jeep ride across the Tengger Sand Sea to Panajakan viewing spot. From this magnificent vantage point witness a dramatic sunrise and the world come alive over this volcanic landscape, often compared to the surface of the moon. Once the sun has risen, take a short horseback ride to the base of Mount Bromo where you can climb steps to the rim of Bromo's crater and gaze into this active volcano. Return to your hotel for breakfast before boarding your afternoon flight to Ubud, Bali's captivating cultural capital. On arrival you will be greeted by your guide and escorted to your hotel, before visiting a local restaurant where you can enjoy mouth-watering Balinese dishes.
Day 8 - Ubud

After the performance embark on an all-encompassing tour of the island from palm-fringed beaches to towering mountain peaks, paying a visit to the island's masterful wood carvers. Experience the serene beauty of Lake Batur backed by its stunning volcanic backdrop, before paying a visit to Tampaksiring. Home to the rock shrines of Gunung Kawi and the tranquil Balinese water temple of Tirta Empul, take a refreshing dip in the alleged Fountain of Youth. Suitably refreshed you will return to your hotel on a leisurely journey through lush rice terraces.
Day 9 - Ubud to Sanur
In the morning visit a local market to buy fresh ingredients before heading to Laplapan village, where you will be warmly welcomed by an experienced local chef who will teach you the secrets of blending local fruits, herbs and spices to create mouth-watering culinary delights the island is famous for. Once your hunger is sated, enjoy a relaxing walk in beautiful Bali Bird Park to observe their large collection of birds from all over Indonesia, as well as a number of South American and African species, before continuing to the idyllic shores of Sanur.
Day 10 - Sanur
Today is at leisure to explore the tranquil beach resort of Sanur, or simply unwind on its soft sands lapped by gentle waves of the Indian Ocean. Sanur is famous for its serene sunsets, so make sure you find a comfortable spot and a refreshing drink as dusk approaches.
