Tour Overview
All aboard! Admire the charming landscapes of the Belgian Ardennes with a steam-powered adventure across the region on our lovely short break. This scenic area of rolling green fields, tree-lined valleys and picturebook towns and villages is just waiting to be explored, and these train journeys from a simpler time offer a delightful way to see the scenery from a different perspective. On this first-class getaway we also have the chance to discover the Belgian capital of Brussels, perfect for foodies with delicious waffles, chocolate and more on offer.
Itinerary
Day 1 : Lille
Lille is a vibrant yet cultural city with plenty to offer our coach passengers from museums exploring the artistic side of this beautiful location such as the Hospice Comtesse Musuem, Metropole Museum of Modern, Contemporary & Outsider Arts and the most famous, Palais des Beaux – Arts de Lille coupled with fantastic shopping opportunities for all visitors.
This cultural hub and bustling university town was once an important operator of the French Flanders with many of the Flemish influences remaining, from its varied cuisines and architecture.
Day 2 : Ypres
Modern Ypres is a beautifully sleepy town, offering a warm welcome and some mesmerising sights. Just over a hundred years ago however, it was the scene of one the biggest battles in the First World War. Having been completely rebuilt after the war, nowadays it serves as a place of pilgrimage and memorial; you will find plenty of museums and monuments to pay your respects and find out more about the town’s role in WWI. One special highlight includes the Last Post, played every evening at 8pm at the Menin Gate in tribute to those who fell.
Day 3 : Brussels
Also known as the capital of Europe, Brussels is a prestigious city offering a wide range of attractions to be enjoyed on our coach breaks, all historical, political & modern from the heritage of its vast range of museums and political venues to spectacular events and festive celebrations.
An unmistakable symbol of Brussels and Belgium is the brilliant craftsmanship of the Atomium – a model of an elementary iron crystal atom enlarged 165 billion times, whereby you can walk through the tunnels and spheres of the atom, devoted to science, design and society.
