Itinerary

Expand All

Day One – Join A-Rosa In Austria

Travel to Engelhartszell near Passau, where you'll begin your A-ROSA Danube cruise. Settle in to your cabin and explore the ship, ready for departure in the early evening.

Day Two – Vienna, Austria

After a lovely morning meandering down the Danube, you'll arrive in the Austrian capital, Vienna, around lunchtime. This bustling cultural and economic centre will be brought to life by an included city tour. Discover why it is known as the 'City of Music', and explore streets and squares lined with a wonderful blend of classical and more modern architecture. Or simply explore or relax at your leisure.

Day Three – Vienna, Austria

Spend another day exploring Vienna's endless sights and landmarks. Sample the local Gruner Veltliner wines, chat with new friends and locals in an authentic Viennese cafe or soak up the culture in a few of Vienna's 100-plus art galleries and museums. A visit to the 1000-room Schonbrunn Palace is a must, for it's where a young Mozart first enthralled astonished listeners with his extraordinary musical prowess. After a wonderful two days, A-ROSA DONNA sets sail again in the early evening, heading east into Hungary

Day Four – Esztergom And Budapest, Hungary

A lively day of exploration lies ahead. Arrive early at small but historic Esztergom, one of the oldest towns in Hungary. Visit the impressive Esztergom Basilica, which dominates the town skyline, and then return to the ship in time to depart before lunchtime. In the mid afternoon you'll arrive in beautiful Budapest. Stroll through the streets on an included city tour, take in the neo-Gothic architecture, perhaps visit the newly reopened Museum of Fine Arts, which holds one of the most extensive collections of European art in the world, or just relax in a quaint cafe or bar.

Day Five – Budapest, Hungary

Enjoy a second day in Budapest, perhaps continuing to explore the city's many cultural attractions. With so many museums and galleries, fashionable stores and restaurants on offer, your biggest chore will be deciding which to choose. The ship leaves this evening to begin the long, relaxed cruise back up the Danube.

Day Six – Bratislava, Slovakia

After a morning on the river you'll arrive in Bratislava, Slovakia's largest city, to spend the day. The pretty streets and old European cityscape make this a really enjoyable place to explore before A-ROSA DONNA departs in the late afternoon.

Day Seven – Melk, Austria

After a memorably picturesque cruise through Austria's Wachau Valley, you will arrive in Melk in the early afternoon. This city is dominated by the spectacular hill-top structures of Melk Abbey, and is home to stunning medieval architecture as well as charming shops, bars and cafes. You'll have a few hours of free time before A-ROSA DONNA leaves Melk and cruises back out into the Danube. Watch the banks drift past from the top deck in the late afternoon sun, and enjoy your last evening on board.

Day Eight – Travel Back To The Uk

You'll arrive back in Passau early this morning. Disembark A-ROSA DONNA to begin your journey home.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Tipping

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. At the end of the cruise you will find a tip box for the entire crew at the reception and the suggested amount is five Euros per guest per day. Of course, you are free to tip individual crew members at any time, should you wish.

Disabled guests and guests in need of assistance

All ships have stairs, are not equipped with lifts, and may not be suitable for passengers with restricted mobility. Wheelchairs cannot be used on board.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is comfortable and casual; we recommend that you bring sturdy footwear for excursions. For the restaurant we recommend smart casual dress. Please remember to bring warmer clothes for evenings out on deck.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is provided free of charge in accordance with A-ROSA's conditions of use. You can request a login and password from reception. Internet reception is limited and will vary from location to location.

Pool

A heated pool can be found on the sun deck of the following ships: A-ROSA DONNA, FLORA, SILVA and STELLA.

Luggage

Where possible, we recommend non-rigid suitcases as these are easier to store within your cabin.

Whirlpool

A heated Whirlpool can be found on the following ships: A-ROSA AQUA, and VIVA.

Cabin facilities

In your cabin you will find a safe installed in the wardrobe, a hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers, insect screens and pool towels. The power supply in your cabin is 220 V/50 Hz. All sockets are European two-pin, meaning you will need to bring an adaptor.

Air-conditioning

All A-ROSA vessels are air-conditioned throughout, with individual climate control in each cabin.

Drinking water

The water on board potable and bottled water is provided in your cabin.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Help is at hand at Newmarket holidays

04-Jan-2023

I tried to book myself on line for an Andre Rieu concert in Vienna but I didn’t manage to complete the booking. I rang the next day & spoke to Sharon who was very helpful. I am a 76 year old pensioner & not totally au fa with the internet. However, Sharon went through it step by step & I felt more confident. She completed the booking for me & said she would also send a paper copy.

Newmarket Holidays…top dollar!

06-Jan-2023

Having booked late the service we received from Newmarket staff has been excellent - helpful, friendly, painstaking and above all going further than we could really expect to ensure our requests were all satisfied. We would like to particularly thank Naima for her attention to detail and perseverance in following up our queries. This is the first time we have tried NH but it wont be the last

This is the third holiday I have taken…

05-Nov-2021

This is the third holiday I have taken with Newmarket Holidays. They made it easy to change from the Holiday I originally booked to one in the UK. The tour leader was excellent as was our driver, both of whom went the extra mile to ensure we had a lovely holiday. There were difficulties at the hotel due to COVID but we were made very welcome and the staff went out of their way to help us. So I have no complaint about Newmarket's choice of hotel. I am a single traveller and normally do not like to travel in groups but the laidback atmosphere of Newmarket Holidays is fine.

Hurrah for Eddie and Simon, Newmarket's highlands duo!

26-Oct-2021

Very happy time on an action packed trip to the Scottish highlands. Eddie as tour manager and Simon as driver. Eddie shared his passion for Scottish history and between them they treated us to many unscheduled cultural stops that enhanced our holiday. They went above and beyond all the time. Train trips were amazing and views unforgettable. Hotel was welcoming and food was good. Hot water aplenty for bath. We wanted to escape to another world for a few days and we truly did. THANK YOU. Chris and Caroline

Canada October 2021

28-Oct-2021

We have returned from our long overdue trip to Canada Niagara Falls to the Rockies stating in Toronto and finishing in Vancouver. Well we happened to be the first trip back after the Coiid outbreak and it was so good to go. The company had made sure we were all safe and masks were worn where ever they had to be but this did not dampen the trip at all, the Tour directors ( guides ) were brilliant and we saw and did so much it was a fantastic trip which I would recommend to everyone, defiantly one for the bucket list.
