You'll also have the chance to witness the captivating 'flames' of the Aurora Borealis, and to discover the smouldering volcanoes, geysers, glaciers and bubbling thermal pools of the startling Icelandic landscape, on this unforgettable Iceland tour.

Highlights

Holiday Highlights

Enjoy a guided tour of Reykjavik
Head out in search of the Aurora Borealis
Optional excursions: Blue Lagoon, Golden Circle and more

Itinerary

Day 1

Fly into Iceland's Keflavik Airport, where your tour manager will meet you and a coach will be waiting to carry you to Reykjavik and your hotel. Once you have settled in, enjoy a Welcome Drink at our get-together. It's the perfect opportunity to meet your fellow travellers and discuss your Icelandic tour.

Day 2

This morning's included, guided city tour will introduce Reykjavik and its surroundings. Take in city views from extraordinary landmarks such as the Presidential Residence and the towering Hallgrim's Church. In the afternoon, explore Reykjavik under your own steam, or join an optional excursion to the world-famous, mineral-laden Blue Lagoon outdoor spa. No visit to Iceland is complete without a dip in these bubbling geothermal pools, set in the strange lunar-like landscape of a volcanic lava field. You'll round off your day with an included dinner with your fellow travellers at a local restaurant – a wonderful chance to sample the delights of Icelandic food and chat with new friends.

Day 3

Discover Iceland's natural treasures on today's hugely popular, optional Golden Circle tour. See the extraordinary Thingvellir lava arena that once hosted the island's national parliament, and the misty torrents of the Gulfoss waterfall. Visit the original Geysir (now all but extinct) and its more active neighbour, the Strokkur waterspout, before returning to Reykjavik. This evening, enjoy the highlight of your tour - an included trip out of the city in search of the Northern Lights, the enchanting Aurora Borealis, that flicker across Iceland's winter skies. Should you be lucky enough to view them, they are an unforgettable sight.

Day 4

Explore Reykjavik under your own steam, today, or join our Southern Shore Adventure optional excursion. This journey into wild, rugged Iceland takes us across the lava plateau, down onto the southern coastal lowlands and across the mighty river Olfusa. Discover Eyrarbakki, a coastal village with many old wooden houses, and marvel at Eyjafjallajokull - the volcano that famously closed down European airspace in 2010. We'll also visit Skogafoss waterfall, the icy wall of Solheimajokull and Vik i Myrdal - the southernmost village in Iceland. After lunch (payable locally) we stop on the black sandy beach at Reynisfjara - famous for its birdlife. Afterwards, enjoy a last evening in the Icelandic capital.

Day 4

Transfer back to the airport for the return flight to the UK, at the end of a wonderful few days.

Help is at hand at Newmarket holidays

04-Jan-2023

I tried to book myself on line for an Andre Rieu concert in Vienna but I didn’t manage to complete the booking. I rang the next day & spoke to Sharon who was very helpful. I am a 76 year old pensioner & not totally au fa with the internet. However, Sharon went through it step by step & I felt more confident. She completed the booking for me & said she would also send a paper copy.

Newmarket Holidays…top dollar!

06-Jan-2023

Having booked late the service we received from Newmarket staff has been excellent - helpful, friendly, painstaking and above all going further than we could really expect to ensure our requests were all satisfied. We would like to particularly thank Naima for her attention to detail and perseverance in following up our queries. This is the first time we have tried NH but it wont be the last

This is the third holiday I have taken…

05-Nov-2021

This is the third holiday I have taken with Newmarket Holidays. They made it easy to change from the Holiday I originally booked to one in the UK. The tour leader was excellent as was our driver, both of whom went the extra mile to ensure we had a lovely holiday. There were difficulties at the hotel due to COVID but we were made very welcome and the staff went out of their way to help us. So I have no complaint about Newmarket's choice of hotel. I am a single traveller and normally do not like to travel in groups but the laidback atmosphere of Newmarket Holidays is fine.

Hurrah for Eddie and Simon, Newmarket's highlands duo!

26-Oct-2021

Very happy time on an action packed trip to the Scottish highlands. Eddie as tour manager and Simon as driver. Eddie shared his passion for Scottish history and between them they treated us to many unscheduled cultural stops that enhanced our holiday. They went above and beyond all the time. Train trips were amazing and views unforgettable. Hotel was welcoming and food was good. Hot water aplenty for bath. We wanted to escape to another world for a few days and we truly did. THANK YOU. Chris and Caroline

Canada October 2021

28-Oct-2021

We have returned from our long overdue trip to Canada Niagara Falls to the Rockies stating in Toronto and finishing in Vancouver. Well we happened to be the first trip back after the Coiid outbreak and it was so good to go. The company had made sure we were all safe and masks were worn where ever they had to be but this did not dampen the trip at all, the Tour directors ( guides ) were brilliant and we saw and did so much it was a fantastic trip which I would recommend to everyone, defiantly one for the bucket list.
