Itinerary

Day 1

You'll meet your tour manager in the airport when you arrive in France, cross the Italian border and continue to your hotel. Check in and settle into your comfortable surroundings. Depending on your flight time, you may have time to enjoy a refreshing drink on the terrace or a stroll along the shore before dinner is served.

Day 2

Today you're free to rest and relax in the hotel and its surroundings. Take a dip in the pool, or retreat to the private beach - where there will be a restaurant and bar, and sun-loungers are available for hire for lazy afternoons in the sun. The more energetic can rent a pedalo or stroll along the seafront promenade and into the resort's old town, to explore its shops, cafés and bars.

Day 3

The first of our included excursions heads to the beautiful Ligurian coast, where some of Italy's most famous resorts are dotted along a shoreline backed by wooded hills. Here, elegant Santa Margherita Ligure, and its gardens and piazzas, overlooks a stunning bay and lies at the northern end of the Portofino headland. Spend some time exploring the resort, then board a boat for a trip along the coast to discover its ultra-chic neighbour, the world-renowned jet-set watering hole of Portofino. Despite the crowds and the glitz and the glamour, Portofino remains one of the Mediterranean's most idyllic settings. Stroll the café-lined harbour front, window-shop in the resort's chic stores, or perhaps people-watch from a seat on the shore, delicious ice-cream in hand. You'll also visit bustling Rapallo, a one-time writers' retreat that boasted D H Lawrence among its more celebrated guests. Return to your hotel for dinner, at the end of a fascinating day.

Day 4

Today's excursion takes you to the Principality of Monaco - the Monte Carlo of fabulous wealth, the famous Casino and a harbour crammed with improbably expensive yachts - round which the super-charged cars of Formula 1™ hurtle in an annual explosion of colour and noise. Step inside the Casino to try your luck or watch others trying theirs, see the Palais Princier, home to the principality's ruling family - the Royal Grimaldis. The journey to Monaco takes you above the beautiful Riviera dei Fiori - the celebrated Italian Riviera of Flowers - and will offer some sensational views of the blue Mediterranean below as well as a visit to the colourful border town of Ventimiglia.

Day 5

Enjoy another restful day in the hotel, around the town or on the beach, making the most of your idyllic surroundings.

Day 6

Our last included excursion takes you back along the Ligurian coast to the stunning stretch, between the resort-town of Levanto and the port-city of La Spezia, known as Cinque Terre (Five Lands) after a quintet of ancient villages that are squeezed into a series of its tiny coves. Breathtaking and charming, the five villages cling to the cliffs, surrounded by vineyards producing some of Liguria's most celebrated wines, and overlook working fishing harbours. The tiny craft make for a colourful sight against the dark blue waters that's best viewed from a shore-side café.

Day 7

Spend a last day soaking up the atmosphere of your Mediterranean retreat, before enjoying a farewell dinner of typical Ligurian fare.

Day 8

Bid "Arrivederci" to your hosts, re-board the coach and transfer back to the airport to check in for your flight home to the UK at the end of a holiday in this wonderful corner of Italy.

Help is at hand at Newmarket holidays

04-Jan-2023

I tried to book myself on line for an Andre Rieu concert in Vienna but I didn’t manage to complete the booking. I rang the next day & spoke to Sharon who was very helpful. I am a 76 year old pensioner & not totally au fa with the internet. However, Sharon went through it step by step & I felt more confident. She completed the booking for me & said she would also send a paper copy.

Newmarket Holidays…top dollar!

06-Jan-2023

Having booked late the service we received from Newmarket staff has been excellent - helpful, friendly, painstaking and above all going further than we could really expect to ensure our requests were all satisfied. We would like to particularly thank Naima for her attention to detail and perseverance in following up our queries. This is the first time we have tried NH but it wont be the last

This is the third holiday I have taken…

05-Nov-2021

This is the third holiday I have taken with Newmarket Holidays. They made it easy to change from the Holiday I originally booked to one in the UK. The tour leader was excellent as was our driver, both of whom went the extra mile to ensure we had a lovely holiday. There were difficulties at the hotel due to COVID but we were made very welcome and the staff went out of their way to help us. So I have no complaint about Newmarket's choice of hotel. I am a single traveller and normally do not like to travel in groups but the laidback atmosphere of Newmarket Holidays is fine.

Hurrah for Eddie and Simon, Newmarket's highlands duo!

26-Oct-2021

Very happy time on an action packed trip to the Scottish highlands. Eddie as tour manager and Simon as driver. Eddie shared his passion for Scottish history and between them they treated us to many unscheduled cultural stops that enhanced our holiday. They went above and beyond all the time. Train trips were amazing and views unforgettable. Hotel was welcoming and food was good. Hot water aplenty for bath. We wanted to escape to another world for a few days and we truly did. THANK YOU. Chris and Caroline

Canada October 2021

28-Oct-2021

We have returned from our long overdue trip to Canada Niagara Falls to the Rockies stating in Toronto and finishing in Vancouver. Well we happened to be the first trip back after the Coiid outbreak and it was so good to go. The company had made sure we were all safe and masks were worn where ever they had to be but this did not dampen the trip at all, the Tour directors ( guides ) were brilliant and we saw and did so much it was a fantastic trip which I would recommend to everyone, defiantly one for the bucket list.
