Day One – Fly To Munich And Transfer To Alpbach

Location: Munich, Alpbach

Arrive in Munich, the capital of Bavaria, where you’ll meet your tour manager and be transferred to your hotel in Alpbach. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a complimentary welcome drink and have time to get settled in before dinner.

Day Two – Day At Leisure In Alpbach Or Included Excursion Up Into The Alpbach Mountains

Location: Alpbach

Once breakfast is finished, your tour manager will introduce you to Alpbach, leading you on a short walk around the village.

You can then decide to spend the day in Alpbach, exploring at your own pace or accompany your tour manager in a cable car up into the Alpbach mountains. Alternatively, you can venture up by yourself.

If you’re keen to ascend the alps, you’ll be shown how to get an Alpbachtal Card. This card entitles you to free public transport, so you can travel up the mountain in a cable car or enter any of the museums.

When you’ve had your fill of fresh mountain air, you can return to the town and use it to visit the local museums during the afternoon.

Dinner tonight can be enjoyed back at the hotel’s on-site restaurant.

Day Three – Included Full-Day Tour Of Innsbruck

Location: Innsbruck

After breakfast, you have a full day of exploring aboard the coach. You’ll start by meeting your tour manager and then setting off to the surrounding sights of the city. In the Old Town, the Goldenes Dachl, which translates to ‘Golden Roof’ is a highlight of the tour and is considered Innsbruck’s most famous symbol.

The Roman-inspired Triumphal Arch is another point of interest and looks even more striking with the backdrop of snow-capped peaks. You’ll also get to enter the Hofburg, a former imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty, dating back to the 13th century.

In the evening, you can head back to your hotel for dinner.

Day Four – Included Excursion To Achensee Lake

Location: Achen Lake

Following breakfast, you’ll embark on another enrapturing journey by coach. On the way, you’ll have the opportunity to stop at Rattenburg, Austria’s smallest city, on the banks of the Inn River and tuck into some coffee and cake (on your account).

When the tour reaches Achensee Lake, the largest lake in Tyrol, you’ll take to the waters by boat and travel for 35 minutes across to Achenkirch, a charming, traditional village of wooden chalets, fringed by fir trees.

Later in the afternoon, you’ll return to your hotel to unwind and have dinner.

Day Four - Included excursion to four lakes (2024 itinerary)

Following breakfast, you’ll embark on another enrapturing journey by coach. Today's itinerary includes four mountain lakes.

Firstly, you'll visit the picturesque Thiersee, a small lake that is hidden between the mountains on a high plateau. This lake is rich with wildlife and an excellent spot for a second-morning coffee.

You'll then board the coach to continue on to lake number two, Schliersee in Bavaria. This beautiful lake has developed as a result of the melting of ice age glaciers and is known for its little island in the middle of the lake.

The third lake on this panoramic journey is Tegernsee, which is not only famous for its beer brewery but also its sparkling water. A must when in Bavaria is to try the local beer and if you're hungry, also the well-known weißwurst.

The last lake on this panoramic tour is Achensee, one of the largest and deepest lakes in the region. You'll be driven along the lake in the narrow valley to reach Pertisau, where the lake is at its widest. This place is perfect for a coffee and cake or a stroll along the shore.

You'll board the coach for the last time today to return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 5 : Day Five – Optional Excursion To Mayrhofen And The Hintertux Glacier

Location: Alpbach

Today, you can fuel up on breakfast and choose to join an optional excursion. You’ll travel by coach from Alpbach to Mayrhofen, a popular town for outdoor enthusiasts with its alpine peaks perfect for skiing in the winter. The tour will stop here, giving you time to have coffee and cake (on your own account) while soaking up the spectacular surroundings.

The coach will then travel up to the Hintertux Glacier, Austria’s only year-round ski region. You’ll be taken to the highest of three stations, sitting at 3,250 meters. This station has a panorama observation deck offering an incredible vista of the mountaintops below.

You’ll then head back to your hotel for dinner after a scenic drive.

Day Six – Included Tour Of Salzburg

Location: Salzburg

After breakfast, you’ll jump on the coach again for a trip to Salzburg, sitting on the border of Germany and looking out over the Eastern Alps. Interspersed by the Salzach River, this city is awash with an array of architecture, ranging from medieval to baroque.

You’ll meet your local guide and then be led through the streets, passing by notable landmarks, and learning about Salzburg’s intriguing history. Following in the steps of Mozart, you’ll walk to Getreidegasse, a shopping street in the Old Town, Altstadt – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and his birthplace. You’ll be able to view the Salzburg Cathedral with its grand dome and two towers and the Alter Markt square, encircled by stately houses.

Following the day of activity, you’ll make your way back to the hotel and have dinner.

Day Seven – Included Tour To Zell Am See, Optional Salzburg Glacier Tour And Visit To Kitzbuhel

Location: Zell am See, Alpbach

Make the most of your last full day, and after breakfast board the coach to the picturesque town of Zell am See, set on a lake. You’ll have some time to wander around this well-loved resort or choose to take the optional excursion to the nearby Salzburg Glacier.

About a 20 minutes’ drive from Zell am See, the Salzburg Glacier is 3,028 m above sea level, and the top can be reached using the Glacier Aerial Tramway. After you’ve reached the summit and embraced the view, you’ll return to collect the other guests.

Help is at hand at Newmarket holidays

04-Jan-2023

I tried to book myself on line for an Andre Rieu concert in Vienna but I didn’t manage to complete the booking. I rang the next day & spoke to Sharon who was very helpful. I am a 76 year old pensioner & not totally au fa with the internet. However, Sharon went through it step by step & I felt more confident. She completed the booking for me & said she would also send a paper copy.

Newmarket Holidays…top dollar!

06-Jan-2023

Having booked late the service we received from Newmarket staff has been excellent - helpful, friendly, painstaking and above all going further than we could really expect to ensure our requests were all satisfied. We would like to particularly thank Naima for her attention to detail and perseverance in following up our queries. This is the first time we have tried NH but it wont be the last

This is the third holiday I have taken…

05-Nov-2021

This is the third holiday I have taken with Newmarket Holidays. They made it easy to change from the Holiday I originally booked to one in the UK. The tour leader was excellent as was our driver, both of whom went the extra mile to ensure we had a lovely holiday. There were difficulties at the hotel due to COVID but we were made very welcome and the staff went out of their way to help us. So I have no complaint about Newmarket's choice of hotel. I am a single traveller and normally do not like to travel in groups but the laidback atmosphere of Newmarket Holidays is fine.

Hurrah for Eddie and Simon, Newmarket's highlands duo!

26-Oct-2021

Very happy time on an action packed trip to the Scottish highlands. Eddie as tour manager and Simon as driver. Eddie shared his passion for Scottish history and between them they treated us to many unscheduled cultural stops that enhanced our holiday. They went above and beyond all the time. Train trips were amazing and views unforgettable. Hotel was welcoming and food was good. Hot water aplenty for bath. We wanted to escape to another world for a few days and we truly did. THANK YOU. Canada October 2021

28-Oct-2021

We have returned from our long overdue trip to Canada Niagara Falls to the Rockies stating in Toronto and finishing in Vancouver. Well we happened to be the first trip back after the Coiid outbreak and it was so good to go. The company had made sure we were all safe and masks were worn where ever they had to be but this did not dampen the trip at all, the Tour directors ( guides ) were brilliant and we saw and did so much it was a fantastic trip which I would recommend to everyone, defiantly one for the bucket list.
