Puerto Pollensa really is an authentic taste of Majorca, with attractive beaches very much top of the agenda here.
Day Day 2 - Cap de Formentor
Travel along the stunning Majorcan coastline towards the eastern end of the Formentor peninsula at Cap de Formentor, known by the locals as the 'Meeting point of the winds'. This spectacular coastline is home to a rugged headland and provides plenty of focal points to enjoy the views from.
One of these points is called Mirador des Colomer. Here you can take a path to an old watchtower which provides views over the peninsula in its entirety, as well as the Pollensa and Alcudia bays.

Day Day 4 - Palma
Take the train from Sa Pobla to attractive Palma, the capital of the Balearic Islands. Palma's earliest history comes from the Roman period and has since changed hands many times, from Byzantine rule to Moorish occupation. Due to its affluence and ideal location for trade, Majorca was an ideal target for pirates operating in the area, most notably the Germanic Vandals - who raided the city on numerous occasions during the fall of the Western Roman Empire.
On arrival you embark upon a guided tour that introduces you to all the main sights of this splendid city. You see the cathedral, known as Le Seu - built in the attractive Catalan Gothic style that was started in 1229, but was only completed in 1601. You also have time to sample the city's cuisine at lunch. Be sure to see the Old City as well, its winding streets contain a distinct Moorish feel and there's plenty of hidden away art galleries and cafés to enjoy.
Day Day 5 - At leisure
Enjoy a day at leisure, the Majorcan climate is perfect for sunbathing and relaxing in your hotel. Be sure to visit the nearby beach or visit Puerto Pollensa itself, with plenty of shops and places to try local cuisine.
Day Day 6 - The 'Orange Express'
You take a ride on the famous Tren de Sóller or 'Orange Express'. This wood-panelled train has been running continuously since 1912 and connects the orange-rich landscapes of Sóller with Palma. The train passes through the pretty countryside with the backdrop of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range in view. Although originally used as a means to expand trade from this citrus-rich region, the train now carries almost exclusively tourists, who wish to enjoy the scenery of a train that connects towns and villages along its route.
An interesting fact about this region's citrus trade, is that, after the discovery of Vitamin C at the end of the 19th century, its health benefits became widely sought after.
Therefore, the oranges and lemons of Sóller became increasingly valuable. You also visit Deia, a small Artist's village in the mountains and idyllic Valldemossa, set in a place of outstanding natural beauty and home to a 13th century monastery. Steeped in old world charm, the winding streets and old stone houses contrast vividly with the deep blue sky and green olive and almond groves that cover the surrounding hillsides. Enjoy time to explore before returning to Pollensa.
