Tour Overview

By Himalayan standards (the highest altitude is 3250 m), this is a low altitude trek. This hike on the Annapurna foothills is designed exclusively for families. On our Nepal family trekking holiday, we include time in traditional Hindu villages, where the local children regard the Himalayas as their playground. Our fully supported lodge-to-lodge program allows us to enjoy the comfort of staying in teahouses. We can join our delightful crew playing board or card games or even volleyball and cricket in each place we stop. There is also time to visit the local schools and markets, where cultural horizons are so different from your own. In all, there are many opportunities and learning experiences to keep both you and your children occupied while getting enthralled. We hike through magnificent oak and rhododendron forests during this introductory graded trek as we ascend to alpine meadows that provide spectacular views of the Annapurna Range. We travel towards Chitwan National Park, where everyone feels youthful again as you ride atop elephants searching for rhino and the rare royal Bengal tiger after completing our trek.

Highlights

  • Our expert trek leader will ensure your safety at all times while enhancing your trekking experience.

  • Experience the Himalayas in style.

  • Your food is prepared with superfood as ingredients to give the best nourishment, recovery, and acclimatization to high altitude for our gourmet trekking adventures.

  • Your private social bubble by staying in less busy lodges and trekking away from the crowded trails where possible.

2 amazing treks

26-Mar-2021

We trekked twice with Raj at responsible adventures. The first time to Annapurna base camp and the whole trek was made special by him and his team. His English is fluent, and we soon were chatting as friends, nothing was too much trouble. The preparation for the trip was well handled, and it was reassuring that Raj was very responsible around safety and matters to do with altitude. He clearly looked after his staff, which again made the whole trip relaxed. En route Raj and his team would cook special meals. They always seemed to judge the timing of this to perfection, when we were tiring and needing a lift. Each morning was started with a cup of real coffee. Little luxuries like this do make the whole experience that little bit more special. When we returned to Nepal, to trek to Everest Base Camp there was no hesitation in choosing Responsible adventures. This trip was equally as good as the first and again Raj displayed the same professionalism. We actually trekked during the monsoon period when the tea houses and the paths are much quieter. Views of Everest were still stunning. However, at the end of the trip, we became stuck at Lukla due to fog. Raj again stepped in and ensured that we got back to Kathmandu safely and as quickly as possible. You do pay a little more than you would with other trekking companies but the quality of the whole experience was worth every penny!

Amazing trekking team

26-Mar-2021

I was planning a 3-person trek to Annapurna Base Camp over Xmas. We have all been to Nepal and received many personal recommendations from fellow trekking friends. Responsible Adventure came highly recommended by a friend who had spend some time living in Nepal and has trekked with them numerous times. The owner, Raj, speaks excellent English and hence, planning and booking everything was a breeze as he was able to offer many recommendations and advice, which was highly appreciated as we were working on a tight schedule. Chandra was assigned to us as the main guide, and I could not sing enough praises for him as he was very considerate, friendly and helpful all throughout the trip! Some little surprises (I should not spoil it) along the way was a bonus! We always felt safe with Chandra around to guide us. Our 2 porters also provided excellent service and were always cheerful and helpful. Raj happened to come along on our trip too, and his many years of experience was very valuable. This was especially the case when we had some hiccups with our flights (due to the weather!) on the way back. We knew we were in capable hands and just sat back and relax with our cup of tea while he sorted us out! The trek price includes all meals on the trek and accommodation in Pokhara and huts along the way. We love our food and must say that the meals were above expectations. I had fallen a little ill along the way, but the team was always supportive and ready to adjust to my pace. Perhaps the trip is priced slightly above the rest, but I think the extra added on value is definitely priceless. All in all, I thought we had a great trek and would highly recommend trekking with Responsible Adventures in Nepal if you have a chance!

The whole experience was amazing. Everything went through without issue. All of our interactions with the company were super convenient and I felt very prepared with all the information provided beforehand. Chandra was our guide. He was very helpful and attentive to all of us! He was also very knowledgeable and taught us a lot. Our porters were Sundar and Hasta. They were also very kind and lovely. The hotels we stayed at were very clean! The entire experience was super wonderful. I would do it all over again. I would also recommend going through Responsible Adventures to anyone who would like to trek to base camp.

Family trekking experience beyond words

08-Oct-2020

"Having just returned from a month in Nepal, I am reflecting on just how spectacular our trip on the Annapurna Circuit (Ghorepani-Poon Hill trek). The first half of the trip was with the entire family (my wife, our 8-year-old daughter, and our 6-year-old son). Admittedly, my wife and I were a bit nervous about how our kids would fare with the long days of trekking. To our delight, Raj and his team crafted an absolutely ideal experience to meet the unique needs of our family. They had arranged to bring along two large baskets that were rigged to accommodate our kids to sit in them when they got tired of walking! It was perfect. We thought our daughter would have used the basket much more, but we were so pleased and proud that she got into a groove and really didn’t use the basket much at all for the entire trek. She pushed herself and learned a few things about what she’s capable of — a valuable lesson, to be sure. Another great benefit of doing a family trek is just the sheer amount of quality time together in the mountains / out in nature. Playing games as you trek, chatting away...we found our kids opened up to us and we were able to really connect with them - so, etching that is difficult to do during the breakneck pace of our everyday lives. I would imagine doing a trek with older kids / early teenagers would be a great way to connect with those sometimes hard-to-reach pre-teens in that ever-important adolescent and early adult years. No phones, minimal Internet, mountains, great food, and top-notch family fun. The Responsible Adventures crew went above and beyond in other ways as well. Raj and the team provided a wellness angle that we didn’t expect and were ecstatic about. We were treated to a number of gourmet meals - prepared by our very own, specially trained trekking chef - all of which included locally sourced fruits and vegetables, minerals, and superfoods rich in antioxidants. The fresh local organic coffee from a French Press was a hit. We even had sushi, tempura, and an incredible Thai green curry with Himalayan mushrooms, chayote, goji berries, and other delectable treats. We were the envy of all other trekkers in the guesthouses! Raj is knowledgeable, safety-conscious, passionate, professional in every way, and was always thinking several steps ahead to ensure my family and I had the best possible experience. Finally, and perhaps one of the things that most people take for granted, Raj’s English is impeccable. Being able to speak articulately to us about history, religion, culture, and our natural surroundings created an infinitely richer experience for the family. In short, I would not hesitate to recommend Responsible Adventures to anyone looking for something above and beyond your average Nepal trekking trip. In fact, I’m already planning another trip back next year! There are loads of cheap, “quick and dirty” trekking ‘companies’ that can take you out to the mountains; never has the adage “you get what you pay for” been more true. Whatever the slight premium you pay to go with Responsible Adventures, it is well worth it. Thanks, Raj and the RA Team!"

Mahmood Al-yousif, Bahrain

Beyond my expectations

02-Dec-2017

"Want to enjoy nature? Walk off the beaten track? Discover a new culture? And have all the worry taken away from the experience? Then book Raj and his team at Responsible Adventures. He took care of us from the moment we landed to departure and helped extend our stay (we enjoyed it that much!) and introduced us to the nuances of Nepalese culture and traditions. We made good friends, enjoyed the food his team prepared, and even got woken up with a hot mug of honey, turmeric, and lemon to boost our energy through the day. This is an experience I am definitely looking forward to repeating in the not too distant future. We came back with a bagful of memories and hundreds of pictures. Nepal is definitely a destination of choice now, thanks to Responsible Adventures.”

Beautiful experience in Nepal

26-Mar-2021

Spending time in Kathmandu and trekking to Everest Base Camp with Responsible Adventures was one of the best experiences of my life. Raj and Chandra are the most knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating individuals I've ever met abroad. If you decide to trek with Responsible Adventures, you'll be amazed at how much you learn about Nepal, from the history and major landmarks to the flora and fauna of the country to the workings of the small villages you'll pass through. The guides are kind and laid-back while making sure you have everything you need/want, and really do make you feel at home. I can't say enough good things about Raj and his crew.
