Tour Overview

Welcome to Cornwall, the land of King Arthur. It is a region that has forged its own identity throughout history and appears separate from the rest of our island - having resisted the formative Roman invasion and, later, the Saxons. Neolithic standing stones litter the landscape, providing a connection with ancient druids and sites such as Land’s End have inspired visitors for centuries - once being the edge of the known world!

Your accommodation during your exploration of this wild and beautiful region is the Royal Duchy Hotel, located on Falmouth’s seafront and boasting views across to the Tudor Pendennis Castle. Spend your time at leisure relaxing in this award-winning hotel, or explore the town of Falmouth, boasting a deep natural harbour and pretty beaches on this UK holiday.

Itinerary

Expand All
Day 1 Falmouth
Accommodation Name: The Royal Duchy Hotel

Settle into the Royal Duchy Hotel (4Q) and join your tour host for a welcome drink before dinner. D

Day 2 Eden Project
Accommodation Name: The Royal Duchy Hotel

In January 1995, where the Eden Project stands today was just a huge clay pit, nearing the end of its economic life. Your visit will showcase an extraordinary series of biomes, showcasing the world’s most important plants. The Eden Project was Sir Tim Smit’s brainchild and its construction faced plenty of Herculean engineering challenges - after all, the site sits 15 metres below the water table!

Stroll through the biomes, spotting banana trees, rubber plants and host of other horticulture. Discover how Eden is educating for the future, learn about a few of its sustainability projects and, in its hands-on exhibitions, see some of the challenges that face the world as we move through the 21st century. B, D

Day 3 Truro
Accommodation Name: The Royal Duchy Hotel

Today, we invite you to Cornwall’s only city, bustling with just 19,000 inhabitants. They say that good things come in small packages, and Truro certainly attests to that. During your visit, take a tour of the 19th-century cathedral, the grand Victorian edifice of which soars above the landscape. Inside, gaze up at its vaulted nave and bathe in the warm light cast by the stained-glass windows.

Afterwards, you have time to spend at leisure to perhaps visit the Royal Cornwall Museum, exhibiting local history and art. B, D

Day 4 Land’S End And St Ives
Accommodation Name: The Royal Duchy Hotel

Despite Land’s End being a rather minor landmark, it has captivated visitors for hundreds of years. Beyond this point (and past the Isles of Scilly) is open ocean, so you would be forgiven for thinking this was the edge of the world. At one point it was!

Spend some time at the landmark before visiting St Ives. Once a sleepy fishing town, today St Ives bustles with holidaymaker energy and boasts beautiful beaches and a collection of modern art, housed within Tate St Ives. Stroll along its narrow Victorian streets and soak up the charm of the place. During your time here, you will also be treated to a cream tea. Remember, as you’re in Cornwall, the cream goes on top of the jam! B, D

Day 5 Farewell
Accommodation Name: The Royal Duchy Hotel

Leave Cornwall behind, having soaked up what makes the county truly special. B
