Itinerary
Depart on your flight to Chicago. On arrival transfer to the locally rated 4-star Claridge House Hotel, where you'll stay for two nights.
Day 2 Chicago
After breakfast, set off on a city tour of the ‘Windy City’, including a visit to the 360 chicago Observation Tower. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure to explore the city where Route 66 begins. Look forward to an included welcome dinner this evening. B. D.
Day 3 Chicago-St Louis
Travel south along the Pontiac Trail to St. Louis, stopping en route at the Route 66 Museum in Pontiac. Spend two nights at the localled rated 3-star Hampton Inn & Suites in St Louis. B
Day 4 St Louis
Look forward to a morning cruise along the mighty Mississippi River, followed by an afternoon at leisure – perfect for exploring this famous city. B
Day 5 St Louis-Joplin
Today you'll travel through beautiful countryside, stopping first at the Museum of Transportation. Later, enjoy a cave tour at Fantastic Caverns. Stay overnight at the locally rated 3-star Drury Inn and Suites Joplin. B
Day 6 Joplin-Oklahoma
Route 66 takes you into Kansas and on to Oklahoma state via Tulsa. Spend two nights in Oklahoma at the locally rated 4-star Hampton Inn & Suites. B
Day 7 Oklahoma
Stay off the road today. Visit the 15-acre Myriad Botanical Gardens & Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory, with the afternoon at leisure. B
Day 8 Oklahoma-Amarillo
Leave the Oklahoma plains for the Texas Panhandle, stopping off at the informative Route 66 Museum in Clinton. Stay tonight at the locally rated 3-star Amarillo West Medical Centre. B
Day 9 Amarillo-Albuquerque
Cruise Route 66 to Alburquerque in New Mexico – “The Land of Enchantment” – today, passing the famous art installation 'Cadillac Ranch and enjoying some free time in Tucumcari. Spend the next two nights at the locally rated 3-star Double Tree Albuquerque. B
Day 10 Albuquerque
Today is at leisure. Perhaps explore Albuquerque's historic Old Town, museums and galleries. B
Day 11 Albuquerque-Flagstaff
As you travel further west, stop at the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona, which is also home to the 'Painted Desert'. Continue to Flagstaff where you stay for two nights at the locally rated 4-star Doubletree, Flagstaff. B
Day 12 Grand Canyon
Spend a full day at the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Perhaps treat yourself to an optional helicopter ride over the canyon. B
Day 13 Flagstaff-Las Vegas
Head for Las Vegas today, pausing at the town of Williams, before continuing through Hualapai Indian country to Kingman and Las Vegas. Spend the next two nights at the locally rated 3-star Luxor Hotel on The Strip. B
Day 14 Las Vegas
Today is at leisure to explore the dazzling Strip, with its free shows, Mall and casinos. B
Day 15 Las Vegas-Los Angeles
Los Angeles beckons as you travel, pausing to visit Calico Ghost Town, then continuing through the San Bernardino Mountains to Los Angeles. Take in Santa Monica Boulevard to the pier – officially the end of Route 66. Spend two nights at the locally rated 3-star Sheraton Los Angeles Westside. B
Day 16 Los Angeles
An included morning city tour of LA reveals highlights including Hollywood and Rodeo Drive. The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the sights. Look forward to a farewell dinner this evening. B D
Day 17 Los Angeles-UK
Transfer to Los Angeles International airport for your overnight flight back to the UK. B
Day 18 UK
Arrive in the morning for your included UK VIP door-to-door travel service home.
