Day 1: UK > Cape Town

Day 2: Cape Town

Welcome to Cape Town, where you‘ll enjoy a three night Special Stay. Tonight, meet your Tour Director for a welcome drink and dinner.

Ascend Table Mountain by rotating gondola for wondrous 360 degree views.

Day 5: Cape Town > Oudtshoorn

Semi-desert scenery awaits en route to Oudtshoorn. Later, discover the underground chambers at the Cango Caves before staying overnight in Oudtshoorn.

Learn about Africa’s largest bird at a local ostrich farm, then head to Knysna on the Garden Route. Enjoy a scenic cruise with expert commentary on the region’s flora and fauna, before staying overnight at your hotel in Knysna.

Travel the Garden Route to Port Elizabeth before boarding your flight to Durban. Enjoy a two night Special Stay.

Discover the beachside town of Durban, famous for its Indian and colonial influences. This afternoon indulge in a delicious high tea.

Day 9: Hluhluwe > Ghost Mountain

The Dolphin Coast region of Natal has a sea of sugarcane fields. Enter Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park, renowned for its rhino conservation program. Later, begin your overnight stay at the foot of Zululand’s legendary Ghost Mountain.

Day 10: Ghost Mountain > Kingdom of eSwatini

Arrive in the tiny Kingdom of eSwatini. Journey through the magnificent valleys of Big Bend to your resort, nestled within an idyllic Botanical Garden, for an overnight stay. Enjoy time at leisure to explore the magnificent garden.

Day 11: Kingdom of eSwatini > Kruger National Park

The famous Kruger National Park borders Mozambique and stretches an impressive 450 kilometres. You’ll enjoy a two night Special Stay at Lion Sands River Lodge, Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge or Lion Sands Kruger Lodge, on a private concession within the park. The Sabie River flows through the park and its bushland is home to the highest recorded concentration of leopards in Africa. Take a game drive in an open safari vehicle this afternoon and look out for the Big Five.

Day 12: Kruger National Park

Day 13: Panorama Route > Johannesburg

Enrich
Explore Soweto with your local guide and visit Nelson Mandela’s house. Learn about 20th century South Africa at your visit to the Apartheid Museum.

Day 15: Johannesburg > Victoria Falls

Board your flight to Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The world’s largest sheet of falling water rises 108 metres high and spans a gorge carved out of a flat plateau. Check into your marvellously colonial hotel for your three night Special Stay.

Sundowners
Enjoy a special Zambezi River Sundowners cruise and watch the teeming wildlife on the banks, drink in hand.

Tonight’s outdoor dinner features a display of traditional dancing.

Day 16: Chobe National Park

Large concentrations of big game call Chobe National Park home. Embark on a game drive along the shoreline, where predators often come for water. Later, enjoy a cruise on the Chobe River, home to huge herds of elephants and buffalo. Large pods of hippo and giraffe families inhabit the banks and woodlands.

Day 17: Victoria Falls

Optional Helicopter Flight - Enjoy an optional helicopter flight over Victoria Falls. See page 95 for details (additional expense, please book on tour).

Visit a typical Zimbabwean village for insights into traditional tribal life and meet the elephants during your visit to the elephant sanctuary.

Later, witness the power of Victoria Falls with a tour from the Zimbabwean side of the worlds largest waterfall. Enjoy dinner in the beautiful Livingstone Restaurant.

Day 18: Victoria Falls > Stanley’s Camp

Travel to Kasane in Botswana for your flight to the Okavango Delta. On arrival you’ll be met by a Sanctuary Retreats representative and transferred to Stanley’s Camp for a three night stay in a traditional safari tent.

Day 19: Okavango Delta

Large herds of elephants, zebras and buffalo populate the open areas, hippos inhabit the streams and lakes, and the wooded areas are home to predators such as leopards and wild dogs. You’ll enjoy morning and evening game drives that will take you right up close to animals that are not used to regular human contact.
Later, compare your sightings with fellow adventurers as you enjoy a colonial-style high tea.

Day 20: Okavango Delta:

Freechoice: Embark on a bush walk with an expert naturalist. Alternatively, enjoy a game drive to another area of the reserve, or a mokoro canoe safari into the delta’s wondrous waterways.

Day 21: Okavango Delta > Kalahari

Fly via Maun to Leroo La Tau, situated in Makgadikgadi Pans National Park for your two night stay. Leroo La Tau sits on cliffs overlooking the Boteti River.

Day 22: Leroo La Tau

Enjoy game drives in the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, where you find salt pans in the middle of a dry savannah. This area is known for its abundant wildlife including lion, hyena, giraffe and wildebeests. The Boteti River plays a vital role in the annual zebra migration. Visit the Camp Hide located below the lodge at water level with the river, ideal for watching wildlife on the river’s edge.

Day 23: Leroo La Tau > Maun > UK

Finish your African adventure on a high as you leave the salt pans and fly back to Maun for your onward overnight flight to the UK.
