Individual arrival in Siem Reap. You will be met at the airport and taken to your hotel in Siem Reap – the gateway to Angkor. Enjoy the evening in the colourfully illuminated city and visit, for example, the lively night market.

After having breakfast at the hotel, It’s time for the main event with a whole day to enjoy a guided tour around the unforgettable Angkor complex. First we will visit Angkor Wat, which is the most famous of all the Angkor temples. The temple, built in the early 12th century by King Suryavarman II contains three stories of libraries, galleries and towers surrounded by a thick retaining wall and an imposing moat. Having your professional historian guide, you will be able to discuss in detail what you are looking to achieve from your time at the temples.
You will then head out into the centre of Angkor Thom and enter the city through the ancient Gate, an impressive stone gate carved with elephants and four giant faces. From here, continue to Bayon Temple, found in the centre of the city famed as the enigmatic faces representing the 54 provinces of the Great Khmer Empire. The Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King are also must-visits as they are both known for their intricate bas-reliefs.
Have lunch at a local restaurant for exotic Khmer cuisine. Ta Prohm temple is your next stop before some leisure time in the late afternoon. Ta Prohm is unique in that it has been left largely as it was found- overgrown by jungle trees and vines, with many parts of the temple crumbling to the ground, and creating one of the most photogenic and atmospheric temples of the entire Angkor site

You will be driven from Siem Reap to Kompong Luong, where your three-day river cruise begins. After a welcome drink on the ship, you will visit the floating village. After a first night on board – you have now sailed gently to Kampong Chhnang – visit the ceramic art and the green landscape of the province with tuk-tuks. In the afternoon, you will be driven from Kampong Tralach to the temple of the same name with traditional bullock carts and meet the silversmiths of Koh Chen.

Your third day of cruise takes you to the fantastic view from Oudong Mountain before reaching Phnom Penh in the afternoon and being taken to your hotel where you can take your time and relax by the pool or venture out for your first exploration of this modern city.

On a sightseeing tour, we explore the city. In the infamous concentration camp S-21 (Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum) and Choeung Ek, the most famous of the killing fields, we learn more about the cruel past of the country. The Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21) served the Khmer Rouge as a torture center. Choeung Ek is the best known of the so-called killing fields, where the Khmer Rouge regime executed around 17,000 people between 1975 and 1979. Today Choeung Ek is a memorial that is marked by a Buddhist stupa. The stupa has acrylic glass walls and is filled with more than 8000 human skulls. You will get to know cheerful sections of history in the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda.

You are free in the morning after breakfast at your hotel till we transfer you to the airport for your departure flight. And say goodbye to your Cambodian guide.
