Tour begins: 5:00 PM, Fairmont Olympic Hotel Seattle. A transfer is included from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to the Fairmont Olympic Hotel Seattle. Please join us for a welcome reception followed by dinner.
Day 2:
Pike Place Market… a feast for the senses
Location: Fairmont Olympic Hotel Seattle
A culinary walking and tasting tour with a local guide immerses you in the flavors, scents, and colors of Pike Place Market; established in 1907, this lively spot is one of the oldest continuously operated farmers markets in the country – and home to the famous “flying fish” of the Pike Place Fish Market. Your afternoon is free.
Day 3:
Whale watching, the San Juan Islands & Victoria
Location: The Fairmont Empress
Drive to Bellingham to board a private charter boat for a cruise through the waters of the San Juan Islands. As you sail through the forested archipelago tucked into a pocket of Puget Sound, take in the uplifting scenery, keep a lookout for bald eagles, and savor a special lunch of regional specialties. Cruise on to the marine areas where orcas live and raise their young for a chance to spot them. Disembark in Victoria, British Columbia, a picturesque island city of 19th-century buildings and a food culture that is rich and discriminating. Your iconic hotel overlooks the city’s Inner Harbour; enjoy dinner here this evening.
Day 4:
A day in Victoria & the Royal BC Museum
Location: The Fairmont Empress
A short walk from your hotel brings you to the Royal BC Museum for a guided tour that sheds light on artifacts and specimens of British Columbia’s history, both natural and human. Enjoy a free afternoon to spend more time in the museum or explore Victoria as you please. The oldest city in the Pacific Northwest, Victoria has a history rooted in First Nations culture stretching back thousands of years, and British and Asian traditions since the mid-1800s. You’ll see these influences in the city’s stately architecture, heritage sites, gardens, museums, galleries, and markets. Your Tauck Director will have suggestions for places to visit, according to your interests. The evening is free.
Day 5:
The Butchart Gardens & flightseeing to Coal Harbour
Location: Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
Victoria is known as the “city of gardens,” and The Butchart Gardens are its crowning jewel, honored as a National Historic Site of Canada. The gardens offer an answer to this question: what in the world does one do with an exhausted limestone quarry? In the early 20th century, Jennie Butchart, the chemist at her husband’s cement company, turned their used-up limestone quarry into a spectacular Sunken Garden. Next, she added the Italian Garden, the Japanese Garden, and the Rose Garden. Take in the splendor of the Butchart landscapes today and have lunch – an Afternoon Tea – at the original family residence, including a sampling of local wines. A floatplane flies you to Vancouver's Coal Harbour for a two-night stay at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, a landmark of timeless elegance in the heart of the city. Enjoy dinner at your hotel.
Day 6:
A day in Vancouver
Location: Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
Lush with farms and vineyards, Vancouver is an epicurean powerhouse in a lovely coastal setting that has captured the attention of gourmands and outdoor enthusiasts around the world. At the Capilano River, a breathtaking adventure offers you a squirrel’s-eye view of the rainforest in the treetop canopy along a footbridge network and cliff walk with a view of the valley that only rock climbers used to be able to enjoy! Explore nature closer to the ground at Stanley Park and in the historic Gastown district, a foodie magnet. Following a free afternoon to explore Vancouver as you please, join us this evening for our farewell reception and dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 7:
