Next, you'll embark on a wildlife safari in Yellowstone's Lamar Valley and the Northern Range; keep a keen lookout for a peek into the world of local residents – namely bears and wolves. A naturalist guide serves as your safari tracker as you hunt for signs of elk and charismatic carnivores – we’re talking grizzlies and gray wolves here – who may have only recently crossed the path. After a midday stop in the isolated village of Cooke City, visit with Dan Hartman, a local wildlife photographer at his log cabin in the woods – learning about his craft and the complexities of getting ‘the shot’. Then continue your drive back through the Yellowstone wilderness, learning about the habits and habitats of the park’s residents, before heading back to your hotel; have dinner at your leisure at the hotel tonight.

Day 5 : The Grand Canyon Of The Yellowstone
Location: Yellowstone National Park, Firehole River, Upper Geyser Basin, Yellowstone National Park
Accommodation: Lodge
Accommodation Name: Old Faithful Snow
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner,

So much of experiencing Yellowstone National Park requires a close-up look at the wild world, and you'll do a lot of that today. Lesser known than its world-famous rival of a similar name, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is one for the record books – and photo album! The best way to appreciate its grandeur and diversity is on foot. Your hike along its trails this morning will reveal the immensity of the canyon and the river below as you stop at various viewpoints, taking you to the brink of the Upper Falls; discussions about conservation, ecology and wildlife enrich your explorations. Journey next to Uncle Tom’s Viewpoint, where you'll walk to Artist Point. After a picnic lunch, continue your travels along the Firehole River to the Fountain Paint Pot, then on to famous Old Faithful Geyser and the Upper Geyser Basin, arriving at Old Faithful Snow Lodge for a two-night stay. Dine tonight at your leisure in the Snow Lodge... to cap a perfect day in Yellowstone.

Day 6 : Yellowstone's Geysers & Time At Leisure
Location: Yellowstone National Park
Accommodation: Lodge
Accommodation Name: Old Faithful Snow
Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner,

Wild and wonderful, Yellowstone is all about nature at her most passionate. She smolders with hot springs, steaming geysers, fumaroles and gurgling mud pots. She’s dressed in majestic mountains, lodgepole forests, trout-spawning streams, rushing waterfalls, green rivers, yawning canyons and rocks exquisitely sculpted with an imaginative hand. She challenges with trails and thrills with animals, like bison, bears and wolves. Today begins with a morning walk with a naturalist guide among the marvels of the Lower Geyser Basin to take in the sights, smells and sounds of this amazing area. From then on, the rest of your day is free to explore the nation's first national park – and the embodiment of "America's Best Idea" – as you wish. You may want to make it a point to watch Old Faithful erupt (like clockwork), or listen to a presentation by a park ranger. After a talk by a historian early this evening, have dinner tonight next door to your lodge at the Old Faithful Inn, a true historic landmark built of lodgepole pine in 1904.

Day 7 : On To Grand Teton National Park & Biking
Location: Grand Teton National Park
Accommodation: Lodge
Accommodation Name: Jackson Lake
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner,

Memories of Yellowstone loom large as you leave it behind for a journey south to Grand Teton National Park, a showcase of picture-perfect snow-covered mountains the way you might have imagined they would look. The youngest mountain range in the Rockies, the Tetons tower above Jackson Hole with craggy peaks, rugged canyons and glacial lakes... undulating valleys, carpeted by sagebrush, cottonwood and aspens... rivers and ponds that provide homes for beaver, coyotes, moose, swans, eagles and more... and flat floors that invite bison and pronghorn to hoof it. Explore Jenny Lake, the “Three Sisters” and Mount Moran. After lunch, a leisurely, guided bicycle ride along the new Teton Mountain Trail increases your appreciation of the history and scenic splendor of Grand Teton National Park; watch for bison, pronghorn and other wildlife as you marvel at the grandeur around you. Arriving late afternoon at Jackson Lake Lodge allows you to take in vistas of the Tetons at dusk, from the 60-foot picture windows in the upper lobby... and the views you'll enjoy during dinner at the Lodge are pretty spectacular, too!

This afternoon, join your Tauck Director for a visit to a site that figures in the history of the conservation movement in the US. Yellowstone American Safari

27-Jun-2016

We had a fabulous experience. It was our first trip with Tauck. Our guide was knowledgeable, personable and very interesting. As we expected all of the details were handled expertly and the itinerary was well thought out to maximize the best use of our time and see the most wildlife, geysers, mountains etc. We did not expect the variety of beauty in the geysers, formations and landscapes we saw. So I would say discovering that was the most memorable part of the trip. Of course seeing bison up close and personal was also very memorable.

Exceptional experience in Yellowstone & Grand Tetons

28-Sep-2015

A masterfully organized and executed trip with a full agenda of educational information and beautiful scenery. Every moment was rich and fulfilling. We saw wildlife, enjoyed good food, rafted on the Snake, learned about the science of a caldera and somehow felt it was all both a intimate personal and fun communal experience. The Tauck Director was extraordinary! Seeing a mama grizzly and her two cubs in the open area between the terrace at Jackson Lake Lodge and Jackson Lake.

American Safari: Yellowstone and Grand Teton, July 21-29.

08-Aug-2017

We experienced natural wonders that are simply take-your-breath-away phenomenal. As tour director, we were fortunate to have one whose friendliness, knowledge and love for the national parks added magic to a journey of superlatives. Just in case, he also is trained in wilderness medicine! A bull bison invaded our parking lot up close and personal!

Culturious Yellowstone and the Tetons

29-Jun-2015

We were able to travel the entire perimeter of Yellowstone seeing all the geological wonders that it is known for - springs, waterfalls, geysers, rolling hills, wild flowers, and abundant wildlife. What an inspirational journey! Never have we felt such a kindred spirit with our amazing country. We would love to see Yellowstone in winter next. Jenny Lake in the Tetons was the most beautiful, serene site. The brisk wind bent the trees and caused the water to lap vigorously onto the shore creating a magical moment for me. The combination of the mountains, the blue sky, and the water reminded me of being a child on vacation in the mountains of North Carolina.

Culturious Yellowstone & tetons

08-Oct-2018

This was our best trip ever! Not only because of the beauty and Yellowstone and the Tetons but also because of our guide. His knowledge was exceptional, his attention to details made this trip wonderful! The unique experiences like visiting the home place of Olaus & Mardy Murie and the Snake River Ranch made this trip exceptional.

Fantastic trip!

31-Aug-2016

The Tauck Director was probably THE best Tauck guide we have ever had. And we were very pleased with the activity level(we are both active 73 yr olds). Would have loved more hikes but then hard to do it all. A trip we will not soon forget. Thank you, Tauck The white water rafting was lots of fun, but for me, just seeing the Grand Tetons and all the gorgeous scenery and wildlife. Sigh, ready to go back..........

Tetons & Yellowstone

03-Oct-2016

Great trip. Enjoyed the activities and lectures. These made the trip unique and added to the experience ot the area. The hotels exceeded expectations except Lodge at Jackson Hole - the room was dirty and sheets were unchanged in 3 days (housekeeping was advised). Cycling toward a bison herd (they split!)

Adapting to the Unexpected

29-Sep-2017

Started with a show at the playhouse in Jackson Hole on our 'gift of time' night and ended with breathtaking views of the Grand Tetons. Didn't expect snow in Yellowstone, but it created stunning views. Traveled with a great guide and a group of people who were willing to enjoy what we were given, no complaints?????? If you had told me that I would be whitewater rafting in the snow I would have said 'no way'.......but we did and it was definitely memorable??

Worth Every Penny

19-Sep-2016

Exactly what we were looking for. More time off the bus and feet on the ground in breathtaking national parks. Very knowledgeable tour guide, obviously passionate about them. Don't sweat the physical requirements--the most demanding activity we did all vacation was the mad dash between concourses at O'Hare. The overwhelming beauty of Jenny Lake.

Yellowstone and Grand teton Safari

09-Oct-2017

Stunning scenery throughout. Hotels and food offerings a good step down on what we have experienced on other Tauck tours. Really thrilled with how close we came to the Bison.
