Highlights
Itinerary
Day 1 : Saunton
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to Saunton. We aim for you to arrive at the hotel between 4pm and 5pm and you can relax for the remaining afternoon, or stretch your legs on the three-mile beach of golden sand and rolling Braunton Burrows.
Day 2 : RHS Rosemoor and Clovelly
Our first stop on our short breaks in Devon is RHS Rosemoor, an enchanting 65-acre garden of intoxicating beauty, meticulously crafted and planted with a variety of themes, and retaining the essence of rural North Devon within a dramatic backdrop of steep wooded valley sides. Take a guided tour and enjoy a delicious cream tea (the Devonshire way is cream then jam).We travel on to the coast and the world-famous fishing village of Clovelly, with its whitewashed buildings (nearly all architecturally listed), sloping cobbled streets, beautiful quay, and traffic-free environment. Unusually, it has been privately owned since the middle of the 13th century. Please note: Access to Clovelly is down a very steep and uneven cobbled pathway not suitable for anyone unstable on their feet. Once at the bottom of the village, a 4WD can bring you back up the hill for a small charge. For anyone who cannot make the visit there is a café and shop at the main entrance.
Day 3 : Exmoor
Enjoy a scenic drive through the beautiful Exmoor National Park, 267 square miles of rolling moorland, ancient woodlands, pretty streams and rugged coast. We stop at the spectacular Valley Rocks to search for the famous wild goats before visiting Lynton, an attractive village with a grand town hall, and Lynmouth 600 feet below Lynton. The two are linked by a cliff railway which you can opt to use as an alternative to the short coach journey. Both villages make a lovely stop for their tea shops and art shops, and are great bases for country walks. Our return journey takes us across Exmoor and through old villages.
Day 4 : Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum
We visit the delightfully elegant Arlington Court with its fascinating architecture and homely interior, full of Victorian treasures.Entrance to the National Trust Carriage Museum is also included, a collection that houses nearly 1,000 items including the Speaker’s State Coach, on loan from the Houses of Parliament. The Gold Coach is a marvel of engineering and design, the finest in a whole range displayed at the museum. All this is set within a 30-acre garden, home to a menagerie of wildlife including Red Ruby Devon cattle, Jacob sheep and a bat colony.
Day 5 : Saunton
You’ll be collected at 10am by your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
