Our routes have been carefully chosen to include the best overnight stops, highlights and included experiences, with plenty of optional activities to choose from. Day: 1-2

Kick your adventure off with a bang, head out on the open road to San Diego where there are over 300 days of sunshine a year - so the odds are stacked in your favour! A perfect climate and heaps of Spanish charm mean you won't want to leave - and it's only your first stop! On the laid-back beachfront, unleash some long-lost skating moves or rub shoulders with the surf set. It's easy to agree with the locals who call San Diego 'America's finest city'. If you're not too tired at the end of the all this action why not hit the clubs and bars which come alive as the sun sets?

Day: 3

Any road trip worth its salt needs highways stretching as far as the eye can see, with nothing but stunning scenery flying past your window, and that's exactly what you're going to get. Cruise through California's sun-drenched landscape and watch in wonder as it changes from beautiful forests to arid desert. Stop to admire views of the rolling sand dunes before finishing the day at your camp right by the Colorado River.

Day: 4

This morning you'll have the chance to take a cool swim in the mighty Colorado River if you're brave enough, before heading further into Arizona for a night at an authentic cowboy camp. Saguaro Cacti cast familiar shapes across the Sonora Desert bush with their giant upturned arms, while coyotes, hawks and star-filled skies keep you company. Your hosts Betty & Rusty will cook you a cowboy steak dinner you won't forget and you can also opt to jump on one of their trusty horses for a ride under the western desert sky. Tonight, prepare for a campfire party under the stars!

Day: 5

Monument Valley is a land of classic scenery that you'll instantly recognise from countless Western movies, and it's also the Navajo Nation's greatest natural treasure. For a very different experience, enjoy an included jeep tour of Monument Valley's backroads with a local Navajo guide and stay overnight in a traditional hogan under a blanket of stars. What's a hogan? It's a traditional clay and wood Navajo dwelling and after touring this wondrous natural movie set with our Navajo guide, there's no better place to lay your head. This is a rare experience which helps you delve beneath the surface of such a well-travelled path and you'll return home with some very special memories of this incredible place!

Day: 6-7

Just when the scenery seems unbeatable, you make the journey to the Grand Canyon, one of the 'Seven Natural Wonders of the World'. With two days you have plenty of time to hike the rim trails for incredible views looking down into the vast desert canyons. Why not hike down the snaking trails to reveal a very different side and become one of only 5% of visitors to venture inside. Alternatively, opt for a flight over the Grand Canyon for an unbeatable bird's-eye view! The best bit? Waking up to the most stunning sunrise nature can summon as the rocks slowly change colour on a brand new day in Southwest USA.

Day: 8-9

After an incredible natural wonder, now it's time for an incredible man-made wonder in the desert - Las Vegas! On your way to Vegas you'll travel a section of the original Route 66, stopping at the town of Seligman where time has stood still. This roadside town is full to the brim with quirky Americana and souvenirs to remember your time in the States. It's also home to an awesome diner where you can get your hands on a super-thick shake! Once you arrive in Las Vegas, the opportunities are endless! Catch a show, ride a roller coaster and enjoy the famous bright lights and non-stop nightlife. Feel like a star as you ride around town in a party bus - and if that's not enough, you can always catch a helicopter flight down The Strip! Don't forget that 'what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas', so why not have a sham wedding and marry whoever (or whatever) you want! Don't worry, it's not legally binding - unless you want it to be!

Day: 10

To complete your desert experience, make your way to the hottest, driest and lowest place in North America: Death Valley National Park. The extreme temperatures and blistering summer heat is long gone, making this the perfect winter destination. Your camera will lap up sights like Zabriskie Point, Artist's Palette (a giant egg-box of turquoise, orange and red mineral deposits), and the immense perspectives of Dante's View, which is a perfect view indeed!

Day: 11-12

Prepare to be wowed by stunning Yosemite National Park. Thundering waterfalls, huge granite cliffs shaped by the elements and towering Giant Sequoia trees are all perfect Instagram material within this huge wilderness, which you might find is decorated under a blanket of snow! You'll have two days to hike, snowshoe (weather permitting) and explore this incredible national park. End the perfect day of exploring in the hostel sauna and hot tub for pure bliss.

Day: 13

Make your way to your final destination on this epic tour, the 'City by the Bay', San Francisco. Famous for having inspired a nation of hippies, writers, poets and filmmakers; it's no wonder the locals are so proud of their city. Enjoy an included city tour where you'll have the chance to walk across the astonishing structure of the Golden Gate Bridge and visit the famous Haight-Ashbury area to explore the eclectic shops before your road trip comes to an end. You'll definitely leave your heart in beautiful San Francisco.This tour ends at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.
