Tour Overview

Patagonia — Torres del Paine National Park. Is one of the most spectacular parts of the Patagonia region and the southern Andes; located at the southern tip of the Americas. The park is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and one of the most visited in Chile. Torres del Paine lies between the Andes Mountains and the Patagonian Steppe in southern Chile giving on to the Atlantic coast. So then; it is an area of great scenic beauty; with many ridges, crags, glaciers, waterfalls, rivers, lakes and lagoons. Then; this itinerary will cover the striking pointed peaks and massive glaciers of the Paine Massif and Southern Patagonia Ice Field; along what is popularly known as the “W” route based on its circuit shape. Following in just over a week; you will trek through almost 40 miles (64.37 km) of trails and stay at a variety of lodges; shelters (refuges) or camping for the overnights. After all; this tour is best suited for experienced trekkers; or physically-fit adventurers who are willing to practice hiking trails with, at times, demanding conditions. Crowds of trekkers/travellers are more prevalent during the high season; which also overlaps with pleasant summer weather in the Southern Hemisphere.

Day 1 : Puerto Natales – Torres Del Paine

Location: Puerto Natales

Accommodation: Hostel, Camp

On arrival to Torres del Paine National Park, we will arrange logistics to meet up with your guide. (FYI: The bus journey trip lasts about two and a half hours (112 km)). You should arrive during the afternoon to then go to dinner and sleep the first night in the Sector Central.

Day 2 : Trekking Mirador Base Torres

Location: Mirador Base Torres

Accommodation: Hostel, Camp

You will start early towards one of the most emblematic places of the Park, the Mirador Base Torres. During the first part you will walk through the pampas and crossing the Ascencio River, then go up about 3 km until you reach the Paso de los Vientos, which will give you incredible views of the valley and lakes. You will continue until you reach the Chilean Refuge, then go into a forest and reach La Morrena, where the hardest part of the trekking begins. You will walk along a rocky path until you reach the spectacular Mirador Base Torres. Later you will begin to descend towards the Central Sector to have dinner and sleep.

Day 3 : Trekking Sector Francés

Location: Frances Vallee

Accommodation: Hostel, Camp

You will walk around 13.5 km bordering Lake Nordenskjöld, Cerro Almirante Nieto and the impressive Cuernos del Paine. During the journey you will have beautiful views of these, glaciers Hanging, lakes and areas where appreciate the abundant flora and fauna of the area. You will get to dinner and sleep in the French Sector.

Day 4 : Trekking Valle Francés

Location: Valle Frances

Accommodation: Hostel, Camp

This day begins with one of the most important icons of the circuit, The French Valley. Very early you will start with a Gentle walk until you reach the Italian Camp. From there you will start the ascent (about two kilometres) between forests through the Valley of the French River. We will continue until we reach the viewpoint French, from where you can have one of the most breathtaking images of the circuit; the view towards the valley flanked by the hills Paine Grande, Cathedral, Leaf, Mask, Sword, Shark Fin and Northern Horn. To be without words. After that show, you will begin the descent towards the Sector Paine Grande

Day 5 : Trekking To Sector Glacier Grey — Puerto Natales

Location: Glacier Grey

Meals Included: No Meals

This day you will reach the third milestone of the circuit, a place that offers an unforgettable postcard of park, the wonderful Grey Glacier. The path begins along the Paine Grande Hill, the highest point of the Massif (3050 m), with incredible views towards its hanging glaciers. Walking between Ñirres, Coigües and Notros, you will reach the first Mirador del Lago Gray where we will see numerous pieces of glacier floating in it. We will continue walking with the impressive view of the Gray Glacier, until reaching the Gray Refuge. Then you will return to Paine Grande Sector where at 18:30 you will take the catamaran that will take you to Pudeto. There will be the bus that will take you back to Natales.

We booked this trek with Unu Raymi just one month before flying out to Patagonia from the UK. James at Unu Raymi was able to book the camp sites and Refugio at short notice and organised a route that worked brilliantly. He organised a porter to carry the tents, sleeping bags and other camping gear, so we only had to carry rucksacks. James was brilliant and knew all about the local wildlife and geology. Great trip.

I've just finished the winter W trek booked through unuraymi. Booking and communicating with James was straightforward. The whole hiking experience was so wonderful- led by the best guide, Andres, and porter, Victor. They were instrumental in the trip, being a truly special once-in-a-lifetime experience. From knowing all the best spots and suggestions to give us the best hiking journey, to cooking delicious meals and making sure we were well-fed and looked after at all times, Andres went above and beyond to give us a special experience. The tour was well-organised, although for the second day, probably due to unavailability of Refugio’s, the scheduled trek was too long for me (32 km). Would have preferred more balance as the next few days were a lot shorter. Company handled our request for private transfer and also a change in itinerary that we made during our trip with efficiency. Personnel that accompanied us were very positive and professional. Had a very nice trip and would recommend.

I had the best time doing the W Trek tour with Andres, our guide, and our porter Victor. The tour was incredibly well organized with Andres customizing the itinerary taking into account the weather to ensure we got to see the viewpoints at their absolute best. Andres's cooking was also amazing considering we were out camping and only had the ingredients we were carrying. The tour is incredible and I can highly recommend it.

We had the most amazing time completing the W-trek with our guide Andres. Since we were in the off-season the refugios were closed and we slept in tents. Most of the time we were the only ones there, which made it a really special experience. Andres did amazing and he made sure everything was well arranged which was a bit more of a challenge since we were in the off-season. Most importantly we felt safe and in good hands with Andres! Also, the contact with James was effortless and with a very quick response! We would recommend it!
