Grading

MODERATE – GRADE 3 This trip involves 5 days cycling with daily cycles of 25-60km/15.5-37.5mi. The route is mostly on flat areas with some hilly sections that are not too difficult. Much of the cycle is on asphalt roads with low traffic. There are some sections on dirt paths. You will need a reasonable level of fitness to participate fully in this adventure. You need only carry your camera and water bottle. Your luggage is transported for you between hotels. There are train connections among the overnight stays each day and the possibility to shorten the itinerary by taking the train: on day 2, 3, 5 and 7. *For safety reasons, we insist that cycle helmets be included as a compulsory item on your equipment list.

What You Carry

During the cycle day you will carry your daily requirements in the pannier provided with the bike. This may include your lunch, wet weather gear, mobile phone and water. A small daypack which can be kept inside the pannier is useful for sightseeing.

Routes were great! - lots of challenges - but doable for the average cycler. Any trouble with the GPS was generally in a town where the turn directions were a little tighter. - There was lots to see and we often stopped just to take a look at the amazing view. We paid for the hotel upgrade and were very satisfied with 3 of the 4 locations we stayed. Anyone who enjoys cycling and doesn't mind going down to granny gear regularly for the inclines would have a great time. Breakfast as explained in the outline was very understated. It was more than ample to get you going for your day.

The bike ride was mostly enjoyable. I did feel vulnerable riding in and out of Florence amongst the traffic. The E Bikes were great. The app on the phone was easy to read. Accommodation was mostly good.
